Every summer I always anticipate the "big summer hit"! You know, that one song that becomes the soundtrack of the entire season and is played all over the radio.

At the beginning of summer, it looked a bit like Jason Mraz' "I'm Yours" was gonna be it, but it peaked too soon. No, this summer, in this country, the "big summer hit" has been Kate Ryan's eurotrashy, but oh so fab and sacrelicious, cover of France Gall's old classic "Ella elle l'a" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdJN0ss7jA0) (Ella, she has it). I am of course glad, because it's in French, a pastiche-like tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and of course hyper gay.

How could one not love a song with lyrics like: "Ella, elle l'a, ce je n'sais quoi, que d'autres n'ont pas, qui nous met dans un drôle d'état." :)

So, now I am wondering, what is the "big summer hit" in your country?

Well firstly I don't speak french. We only got to learn one language at school and I chose german.. which was a shame because my teacher sucked all the fun out of learing a forn language so now all I can say is Meine luftkissenboot is um die ecke..

Also, I just don't like dance music.. It's not my thing...

Well, luckily, in my country, the summer hasn't hit big yet, it's still nicely cool and rainy. :D

You ask only to claim Duffy's "Mercy" as the "big summer hit", which is of course Euro.

Its not as good as their old stuff, but its still better than this new faux-metal that is out right now, amirite?

And I wanted to go to their concert in Chicago, but I can't.

I've only picked up one new album in the last couple of months, so for me I'd have to say my favourite new song is "The Dogs" by Sloan. I'm sure no one else will agree with me.

I like some French house and hip-hop (I know, I know), but it's nice to see lyrics I can understand!

I listen to the radio occasionally, but most of the stuff I can stand to sit through is at least a year old. I don't know what those damn kids are listening to these days... *turns radio on*

Yeah.. Whatever the the big summer hit is the chances are that I'll be very much unaware of it.

For once, I'm lucky enough to not have heard it, whatever it is. I haven't listened to the radio in the long time, so the closest I've gotten is the commercial on the TV telling me that "Sleepless" by Before June is the summer hit of the year.

That means nothing to me...

I'm not sure there has really been any hits I would describe a summer yet (usually this happens in August so I don't know what crazy world you live in)
