Happy music

Wilgrove

So, I'm looking for "Happy music" mainly because honestly I'm tired of being this bitter cynical guy who acts like an asshole half of the time. I'm tired of it because it's starting to affect the people I love and care about and it's pushing them away. So I figure one of the way I can change (beside not being an asshole) is I improve my overall mood. My theory is, if I listen to "Happy music" when I start my day, it'll improve my mood for that day. Ergo I become more tolerable of people.

Any suggestion?

"happy music" could cover every genre available, as every band has a happy song, unless they are extremist emos.

As i dont know your pesonal music taste, I pretty much dont have any real ideas, but anyway. recently, some techno songs i have found to be very bouncy and upbeat, good for when im tired or a bit stressed. Santana i also find to be good, as his music is usally happy and melodic. for maybe a slightly extreme path, some late 60's to late 70's songs have good party atmosphere to them, and are all about dancing.
well thats about all i can think of.

Bare Naked Ladies always cheers me up.

And yet, somehow, I manage to track down their fewer depressing songs and adore them. :p

80s? 90s pop? Goo Goo Dolls always cheer me up, though they're not particularly happy music... indie music can have some really upbeat stuff... it's all subjective, so it's hard to say.

Edit: Whoa. The new "tongue out" smilie implies a totally different tone than the old one. Do not like.

Bare Naked Ladies has depressing songs?! I had no idea.

Smilies: Yes, I know. I don´t like them one bit, with perhaps the exception of the Soap Box one.

I don't understand Flyleaf. Their music is horrible, horrible, horrible, but it's so aggressively abrasive and obnoxious that I can't help liking it a bit. A lot, actually.

Anyway, when I'm feeling in need of an unchallenging mood improver, I turn to Dolly, The New Pornographers, Battlefield Band, Ziggy Marley or Jess Klein.

Led Zeppelin had some upbeat songs. I find Stairway to Heaven to be beautiful in a good, nondepressing way. And you can't go wrong with Kashmir and Achellis Last Stand, also by Led Zeppelin.

I wonder if there really is Zeppology, not that's I'd become a Zeppologist, unless it's just the study of Zeppelin. Yeah, I'm listening to Zeppelin now.

There are many Mountain Goats songs that never fail to make me grin. They also strike a nice note between funny and bitter. I don't know, I could just be weird, but they make ME happy.

Its pretty much impossible to be depressed when listening to this song (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kZQxvRamJs8). Pirates ftw. I do love the ridiculousness that is Abney Park, and think that this would work to lift the mood even if you don't have a 'thing' about pirates. The fact that the frontman is hot as only plays a minor role in me thinking this is teh awesomeness :)
