Cracked iPhones were going for like, US$2000 or thereabouts. But then, Apple specifically put in the contract that you could not crack the iPhone. But then, that clause of the contract was of dubious legality in the first place.

All i know is i just downloaded the 2.0 software on Fri and i must say my phone is far better now then the day i bought it a year ago. And my upgrades were free. Can you say that about your phone?

I dont own nor do i want a laptop. My iphone serves as my portable Google. I enjoy having walking access to the Worlds database.

I had never previously owned an Ipod and it was my understanding that the iphone had the best designed Ipod device yet invented. It made sence to me to have one device instead of two.

When im sitting in the waiting room at the mechanics, iphone is great to play games on to kill time. With the new software, games incorperating the accelerometer are simply awesome.

GPS, email, movies, youtube, camera all on a large clear touchscreen. Whats not to like? I use it all.

Are any of these irrational reasons for liking and enjoying the iphone?

One last thing. The accellerometer is featured by the X7500 too. Just not much implemented (it is called VueFluo and used to scroll trough web pages both in Opera and IE). I have seen some freeware taking advantage of it, but not much.

I did the upgrade from Win mobile 2003 to Win mobile 5 on my QTek 2020 by myself. All I needed was a SecureDigital memory card and a needle.
And owning a Win mobile device lets me download TONS of freeware/shareware programs ranging from web browser to Quake clients. Without mentioning that being a programmer i could develop something by myself in C if i really wanted it hard.

Is it that part about the apple mania that is unclear? Well, in my experience, new apple user get it. It is a way to answer to Linux/Unux/Win people when they point out that, of late, what comes out of apple is substandard.

Is it the t-sirt part that makes you wonder? Well, i'm right now wearing a Macintosh Performa t-shirt i got with my Macintosh Performa... Kind of vintage nerd... This is to say that i do recognize that tere was a time when Macs WERE superior stuff and the greater price was given by the better hard- and soft- ware.

I value my phone specifically because it doesn't need an upgrade. It's been as good as it was on day one. And since it only cost me about $50 with my due upgrade and rebate, I have no qualms about buying a new phone whenever I feel the need to get a new one.
