There ARE still people who are willing to debate a subject without flaming or being condescending. Heck, I had a rational debate with Andaras. That was a while ago, but there wasn't any flaming involved, nor any "ZOMG!1! Communist!" Or "U R teh ebil Capitalist opressorsz!1111!11!". It was a calm exchange of ideas, arguments and counter arguments.

Of course, since then, I've had some trouble with Andaras...

I've learned quite a lot here and met a lot of terrific, intelligent, eloquent posters with a lot to say. It's only sad if you let it be sad. Don't feed trolls, and life is good.

Honestly, I agree with you, but it is the dog days of summer in a long and dreary political year. There really hasn't been many snippets of anything new to debate, but I'm sure as August rolls around, and we get all these meaningless primaries out of the way, there will be much more to discuss.

I actually first started on NSG in 2005, but I really didn't do much. Then, I made another nation in late 2006 out of near complete boredom.

I can't really prove what I'm saying... I mean, I don't think anyone remembers my old nations. I can say, though, I started my last one around the time Wilgrove started. I think.

Really, you're dealing with a bunch of people who are already convinced that their opinion is gospel truth and that anyone who disagrees must have some sort of mental problem. Those kinds of people, no matter what opinion they have, are pompous, arrogant a-holes. You will never get intelligent debate out of them.

Unfortunately, NSG tends to attract such people, especially a bunch of them that I vehemently disagree with. But, for some reason, I come here anyway.

thats variable depending on the location, some places it's a reason to fear for your life, pull out a piston and legally ventilate the sod (texas), other places you can hire a couple of sicaro's to give him a terminal lesson with a cut-throat (literally) razor (columbia), or you can walk down a dark alley and ambush him with an illegal pistol and let the cops call it a drug deal gone bad and ignore it past delivering the corpse to the morgue (washington DC).

It does get a bit sad yes, and I have little patience for it.

Personally, I find most answers fairly reasonable and either funny or pertinent. There's, of course, some that are either trolling or naive and perhaps too many people jump on these as an easy target for attack.

Yet, like much of the Internet, the generally intelligent answers shine through and influence the overall opinion of the entire board.

The Internet is a great resource for opinions from all over the world, perhaps dominated by America for sure, but it's often a remainder that there are different opinions held by different people.

Is NSG sad? Perhaps, but then I feel that forums are the bottom feeders of opinion, most varied, most diverse, yet the basis of of forming the culturally accepted standards of our time.

Evey couple of years I see the same thread. "I am nostalgic for..." Claiming FAG, MTAE, etc. was intelligent debate is kind of silly. You can still debate on NSG is you focus on people making points. CTOAN, Jocobia, CH, Neo Art, and others are great to debate with. Please don't get offended if I left you off this list. NSG is what you make of it.
