Craziest Sports Fans

What sports team has the craziest fans?
My first gut on this would be to look at some of the European football clubs, but I don't think any of their fans are as nuts as the fans of the Oakland Raiders.
I'm sure that not everyone on this board is familiar with American football teams. The Raider fans are completely insane. If you have ever been to a game or even seen one on TV, you would think that each of the fans there was a member of a biker gang. That is the image the Raiders and their fans have conveyed for the last 30 years. Half of them probably need to be committed for the safety of the general public.

Im sorry to dissapoint you. I have been to american football NFL games, south american real football (what you call soccer) games and european football games.
The craziest fans are in Argentina. There you have to be smart to walk out of the stadium alive. Period.

Personally, I think anyone who considers the outcome of a game to be important is somewhat delusional. Unless they have money riding on it.

The craziest fans are rally fans.
Just imagine getting to within a few inches from the car, doing a hairpin turn at 150mph offroad. A tiny miss, and you're injured; a small miss, and you're dead. They have to be really, really confident in the drivers taking a perfect curve.
Just look at this:

And this is a mild example. Often, they fill the track as well, running away just as the car approaches.

I believe that during the last world cup in Germany they had to put full courts and a police headquarters in some of the stadiums.
While Raiders fans can indeed be terrifying, I don't think anyone's died at a Raiders' game yet. I'm pretty sure people have died at soccer games (though to be fair, they've been killed at baseball games, too).
Raiders fans are actually on the whole a fine bunch as long as you don't try to give them any crap or talk trash in their home. Or show up in Kansas City Chiefs jersey. A lot of people around here want to get rid of the Oakland Coliseum because it's so ugly and made of cement, but we often joke that it was designed that way so Raiders fans couldn't burn it down. :P
Having been raised a Red Sox fan before switching allegiance in adulthood (much to my father's horror), I have to say that, while not generally violent, Red Sox fans are fucking loony.

Personally, I define "sport" in three ways: it must require athleticism, it must require skill, and it must have an objective scoring system. So to me, not only is gaming not a sport, but neither is golf, pool, poker, certain lifting competitions, or ice skating. :p

That guy who yells "GET IN THE HOLE!" whenever a pro golfer tees off. I even hear it on par fives. That man should be thrown in a water hazard.
Raiders fans are certainly the craziest dressers.
Philly sports fans aren't necessarily crazy, but boy are they surly. Pelting snowballs at Santa Claus? Man.
As a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, I can say that while we have moments of craziness, most of us are either delusional or morose. It depends mostly on how long one has been a fan.

Agreed. At the championship, there was this one woman who kept shouting "CHEATERS! CHEATERS!" At the top of her lungs each time someone on the other team got so much as a strike, or someone from our team got a hit. I still blame the blind Umpire for that game...

It's best if in England to stay away from Millwall, though they aren't as bad as they used to be. Roma fans are mental as well....

In the US, the college non-professional american football league fans are more violent than the NFL fans.
Its because in college american football there is lots of teenagers, instead of lots of couch potatos.

I've sold tickets to Raiders fans-they are the biggest group of knuckledragging mouth breathers I've ever encountered. I'll say this for 49ers fans, they know what's available and are realistic about what they're going to get and what it's going to cost-they know ahead of time, they're in, they get their tickets, and they're out. For Raiders fans we had to assemble a picture book to explain how to make a transaction. Ooooooh I hate Raiders fans sooooo much.
NASCAR fans are a treat. I remember the sounds of a Coors tall boy cracking open at 9 AM, the tooth challenged man taunting "Yeah yeah yeah, all your Fords will overheat in the parking lot." (He looked right at me and said that, despite the fact that I had been rooting for the guy in the Chevy who won, for whatever reason I said, "Dude, my car is aircooled." And the futile wave to the guy who wouldn't let me out of the parking lot to take the route that was actually moving because he was convinced that I was trying to cut into the line that wasn't moving that he was committed to; as I left the track while he was still in the parking lot. I had intended to go back the next year, but stopped short of the track and watched the race in a bar and grill with airconditioning and a really tasty burger. No regrets on that at all.

Okay, I was raised a Niners fan 'cause the Raiders were in LA when I was a kid, but I don't watch football anymore. That being said, my family is all Niners fans, but my ex is a Raiders fan, and while his family IS crazy, they're not stupid. And I've met plenty of Niners fans that were the kind of Menlo Park yuppies you want to punch in the mouth. But they never tried to burn shit down, either.
Who do you root for now?
That's a complicated question. After being raised for 20 years on the Sox they traded Nomar and demonized him and I said, "You may break my heart in many ways, Red Sox, but you DON'T say shit to Nomar" so I stopped my devoted loyalty and became a full-time A's fans.
I love the A's a lot. A LOT. However, I am just about on the edge of what I can take in terms of trading away 3/4 of the team and moving the rest of it out of Oakland. :(
