Tell Me Something...

..am I one of the only people who calls the turn signal on a vehicle a 'turn indicator'? My husband seems to think that it makes me a dork. He said it's either a blinker, signal or thingie.

Mind you, I'm speaking as a Canadian, so this is likely a Canadian colloquialism (I can never be sure about this kind of thing) but I'd be curious to see what NSG thinks.

That too, to keep them from shying from things at their sides.

It's a homonym like butt -- one being what you sit on and one being what you toss when you've finished smoking it. (Additioally: one being what you eat once you've smoked it.... or a target.... or a cask or barrel...)

Yes... to head it off at the pass (or is that ass?) I am rather an expert on butts. Does that make me a butthead? ;)

Well most people i know simply refer to them as "indicators", i think its a British thing.

Americans know jack all about a car they call "indicators" which is what they are not "turn indicators" because it indicates which way you are about to move you may not always be turning.

The yanks call it a "bonnet" a "hood" and even more WTF they call a "boot" a "Trunk". Laziness is what it is called.

*Ahem*

No most if not all Australians call them indicators.
Cameroi
11-07-2008, 08:55
i clicked all of them because it doesn't make a fart in a windstorm what you call them, as long as you give some indication, some clear and unambiguous indication, when you are going to turn in front of the poor bastard who has to either slam on his brakes or pull in front of you to avoid a collision!

when the day comes we stop being coerced into worshiping the damd automobile the question will be moot. and that day can't come soon enough for me.
