Sorry for posting all these random topics, I just am really bored.

**Do you see the typo?**

So, I love the company called Apple, I want to dance with Steve Jobs, High five the workers, etc! But the one thing I don't like about Apple is how they release new products a couple of months after they just released a similar product. Also, they over price everything.

Topic:

Phone, iPod, Internet, and more.

Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do — again.

Apple, I guess needs more money, and the IPhone was over priced, so now they want to release another product, that is supposedly faster and costs less!

It's not really all that uncommon for a company, any company, to come out with at least an upgraded product after a year if not a new one all together. It's been over a year since the first iPhone was released, so to single this out as an Apple thing is kind of disengenious. Jobs was upset with the speed of the internet on the first iPhone and a lot of people expected a 3G model a lot sooner than when it did happen.

When the first iPhone came out some of the MacBabies (the people who flop all over the floor like fish and whine and whine and whine about Macs because less than 10% of the computer market have the audacity to not use the same system they use and this offends their sensibilities to the core) flipped out over the price, so I did a comparison. What had happened was that AT&T didn't subsidize the iPhone so you just paid the cost of the phone as apposed to getting discounts from the provider-but when I did a comparison, because AT&T wasn't trying to get its subsidy back, cost of ownership over the two year contract was on average $300 less for the iPhone vs. similar phones and plans. That actually impressed me. (T-Mobile ended up being even cheaper over all, iPhone came in second). Now that they are using the model everyone else uses, cost of ownership for the phone is the same, so while it appears cheaper in the long run it's more expensive. That's too bad.

My big meat thumbs have a hard time with the touch screen. It'd be nice, but really all I need is a phone that makes and receives phone calls.

Well it's better than the first one, but also cheaper. Thus the first one was overpriced shit, and the people who bought it are most likely kicking themselves.

I rock a PowerBook G4. Out of date but I no longer have student loans to abuse to get a new model.

Well, are they a business or aren't they? And the new phone isn't a frivolous update, it fixes a major Achilles Heel of the first model-being on the Edge network was liking building a factory hot rod and putting a 4 banger in it. It's not a change in casing or "Now with pine scent," it brings the iPhones internet speeds up to par-not even 'faster than most,' now it's finally 'as fast as the rest of the class.'

Apple computers are over priced for what you get, you can build your own PC for FAR less.

Hell, if you don't want to, even Dell offers better deals with better warranties.

Yeah, all those years of saying how bad Intel was, then they come crying when PPC did not work out for them.

The iPod is just another MP3 player you pay to much for. I can name a ton of MP3 players that are priced the same, and offer just as much storage and features. Most even have radios built it.

iTV is a joke.

Anything you buy from apple is overpriced, useless and looks like a smudgy POS.

For iPhone, the ‘New’ Is Relative (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/09/technology/personaltech/09pogue.html)

The other drastic change is the iPhone’s price: $200 for the 8-gigabyte model, $300 for the 16-gig. Those are terrific prices for a machine with so much sophistication, utility and power; a year ago, an 8-gig iPhone would have cost you $600.
But the iPhone 3G is not really, as Apple’s Web site puts it, “half the price.” The basic AT&T plan — unlimited Internet and 450 minutes of calling — now costs $70 a month instead of $60 (plus taxes and fees), and comes with no text messages instead of 200. (Adding text messaging costs at least $5 a month more.)

I find hylarious the hype about the "novelty" of the iPhone.
I bought my HTC Advantage X7500 in october 2007 it came out around june 2007, before the iPhone.
3G, HDSPA, EDGE, GPRS, Push technology, GPS with TomTom Navigator, 5" screen, detacheable keyboard, 2 cameras...

Specifications here (http://www.htc.com/europe/Product.aspx?id=15668)

The only bad thing about this one is the 8Gb microdrive, fixed in the new X7510 that boasts a 16Gb Flash memory.

I'm only getting the data plan, because the voice plan I already have works with it.
