This next generation, unlike the two that preceded it - because nothing much was going on, has A HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY.

Mock all you want, but the world is running out of stuff owing to the fact that we all have spent the last forty years refining our knowledge of William Hazlitt rather than making more stuff. So when a pound of cheese becomes a status symbol the youth of our nation will be called upon to MAKE HISTORY.

Naturally we'll start small. Certain areas will have to be 'integrated' to the United States - small ones at first - whether they like it or not. And that will be fine and almost ignored. After all there is no need to get upset about Grenada just because the US needs more bananas to follow the Charles Atlas diet. But here is where the HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY comes in. It's silly to think that in the future the US will be the only military and economic superpower, so when it comes time to 'integrate' a larger area for resources, - possibly to the north - some other people might complain. Naturally our nation will need a bold and charismatic leader to tell the rest of the world that THIS WILL BE OUR FINAL DEMAND and that is where the HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY comes in. No-one is going to take the 'integration' of the northern resource area lying down, so the youth of today will be called upon to serve in the army of tomorrow, giving them a chance to MAKE HISTORY. Slaughter of millions I imagine. Vicious and pointless fighting up and down the Aleutian penisula. Brave men and women dying in Taiwan. And who knows, maybe one of your children will get to wave the white flag at the end of the Battle of Washington DC. (Which would itself be A HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY.)

So what say you, youth of today. Are you ready for your HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY where you can MAKE HISTORY? Or not.

Then again you are more likely to learn Mandarin and work in call centers for asian banks.

The reality is that youd end up with a Hundred Fifty Iraqs and Vietnams with never ending warfare, until the US itself becomes beset by Anarchy and Death...

Subjugating the many for the needs of the few is never the way to go, even if you succeed the seeds for your eventual failure are already there, see the British Empire, or Rome for that matter...

But, there is a ray of hope for your future, cause i think the scenario could still happen, just not via Military Conquest, more likely all the countries with an overall similar philosophy, i.e Westerners, Orthodox, Islamic, East Asian, etc. will band together ala the European Union or Warsaw Pact in order to create Trading Blocks that can compete Economically with eachother in the Global Economy, its already started with the aforementioned EU, British Common Wealth, NAFTA, Commonwealth of Independent States, etc....

It seems MORE LIKELY to me that the US has IS ALREADY OVER-STRETCHING itself with THREATENING IRAN WHILST FIGHTING TWO OTHER WARS, whilst the CHINESE JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH, and teach their kids HOW TO USE THE CAPS KEY CORRECTLY.

If the US doesn't learn fast just what it can and can't do, they will spread themselves too thinly and loose what they have already gained.

Actually American english is an isolate, and is a much closer approximation to traditional or Shakespearean english.

Except for the fact that it too has changed over time as well. Using hog instead of pig does not mean the rest of American English has stood still.
