i accept that there are times when such headsets are necessary. some situation where you NEED both hands free while you talk on the phone
but for god's sake is there anyone who needs to be using one while walking around a store or any of the hundred other places where they will be mistaken for the insane?

well.. yes and no, blue-tooth, and other hands-free phone devices are usefull in specific settings... and pretty funny in all the rest...
i mean, you've got to appriciate the 'are you crazy' looks you get from other people when your screaming at thin air before they notice your headset... somethings are priceless, and one of them is having the guy at the check-out afraid that he's talking to a phsycho path while your chatting with a friend by phone...
i'd say, looking like your crazy is worth it!

I have a bluetooth phone.
It connects to my GPS so I can talk handsfree in the car.
That's all I use it for. Anywhere else I can either pull out the phone, or it's not an appropriate place to pull it out anyway.

Same + at home when on call and trying to work on a server while talking to a customer/rep/tech or other nessisary party
I dont think i have taken the headset out of my apartment besides for its purchase

I don't really mind the use of a bluetooth or earpiece when talking on the phone, it's not like there is 'integrity' in holding a phone to your head, and the "Talking to me, yourself, or on the phone" thing is resolved pretty quickly. So that doesn't bother me so much.
What does bother me is wearing your bluetooth when you're not on the phone. Then, you look like a tool.

Oh god agreed, we dont see too much of that around here but there used to be a guy that the department i headed fixed a computer for
Each time we did he wore his BT device the entire time
I ran into him twice downtown at the bars with a band playing at a leavel you almost needed ear protection for (and I am an avid concert goer) and he still was wearing the fucking thing sitting up by the speakers
Did not help that he was 30 and creepy as well

Haha, I was listening to this comedian the other day and he was talking about how people have the most personal conversations in public, it was great!:p
