Scottish NS Meet?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking it would be a nice idea to gather a bunch of NationStates peeps to meet in Scotland (where I live obviously), but before I start organising anything I want to gauge interest first. Possible locations for the meet would be Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow or Aberdeen. This isn't just for Scots of course if the thread of the title implies it, those south of the border are welcome too. And those from overseas if you're up to it!

So, who's interested?

I'd be up for a pint and a natter, circumstances permitting.

Glasgow or Edinburgh would be easiest.

I could be tempted to pencil it in to my overflowing diary of sitting about and eating

I'm afraid that I'm pretty much as far away from Scotland as you can get without entering the English Channel, so I'll have to decline.

I could’ve gone; if I had the cash the time and not the horrible feeling one of you would stab me.

I guess I might be able to pay a visit...maybe, any ideas on a date?

(18 so may be a no-no if your going to the more "uptown" clubs with over 21 rules:()

If it happens, I'm sure we can garner an 18-friendly night.

There are plenty of places in both Glasgow and Edinburgh that're 18 friendly and good. I'm a Glasgow native but currently study at Edinburgh College of Art, so either is good for me.

I'd be interested.

I agree this NS meet needs to be organized under the cover of a McDonald's birthday party! (mostly because that would be sick:p)

though really I've never seen that restriction in place beyond London

Well, I'm only 20 so I can assure that that's not going to happen.

My initial idea was that we'd all gather at a restaurant, have a meal, chat about NationStates or whatever and then go check out the sights.

As for a date, I'm thinking late July or August, that's something we can narrow down once we've got enough people interested.

So that's Dundee ruled out as a venue

Glasgow would be better if in August, the Edinburgh festival runs for pretty much the whole month which would cause problems for anyone having to travel there.

Anyway, not back up there until September. Damn :(

It depends where you go, (If Edinburgh, I don't know Glasgow although apparently it's better) but won't be a problem in the centre or anywhere towards the university.

That's very true. What kind of times would be best for those interested? If we do settle on Edinburgh it might be best to catch it in late July (after the 27th).

As for places, I imagine Glasgow would be best for catching everyone (even though it's the farthest from me I can get the Megabus).

what would be super for me would maybe be August and given the choice between the two cities I will go with Glasgow what with it being shall we say more civilized and thus easier to get to from the midlands

also may I be the first to mention that none of you can take me at drunken dancing :p

That would be a no. I mean, I've certainly never fantasised about them!

(Hope you don't mind the gravedig.)

I'm going to the Edinburgh Festival for a few days at the end of July/beginning of August, so if anyone was around Edinburgh then, I could always poke my head in. If it was in another city, I could take a detour on my way back on my last day.

I might be able to come... I'd need accommodation though. :/ Train journey is like 4 hours or something. I don't really want to do two of those in one day as it wouldn't really leave me any time to look around the city and what not.
