Simple question.

I'll go with my 151, tastes so good, and you can get a decent buzz off it fairy easily, good for parties.

Baker's James B. Beam Distilling Co. (107 proof) Aged 7 years. Elegant and well balanced on the palate, with a clean finish that follows round smooth flavours of vanilla and caramel. Baker's Bourbon follows the Beam family traditions of putting our best secrets inside the bottle, not here on the label. They have distilled six generations of Bourbon skill into this bottle. That's a lot of good secrets. Please savor its smooth flavor over ice, with a splash of water, or however you take your Bourbon. 107 Proof

Spirits are liquors, although liquors are not necessarily spirits. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distilled_beverage) Personally, I don't know if I could choose between Oban and Lagavulin.

The Balvenie 12 year doublewood is an absolutly fantastic Scotch

As is Glenmorangie 12 and 15 year

Dalmore makes a great cigar scotch

And for an isle laphroaig if you like isle scotches (not as many do like a true isle scotch)

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, but everyone raves about these $25 bottles of advanced Cuervo or other brands, and the shit makes me cringe just smelling it. I have tasted some very good tequila, but it came in cardboard cylinders with fancy labeling and cost WAY too much. I figured that if you need that much refinement and that much money just to be tolerably drinkable, I'll pass.

Yeah, that's my problem with it, too (and it's Patron, not Petron --- no idea why I typed it with an E). It's exactly why I won't be buying any for my 21st. A decent vodka can be bought for under $10, so it's quite a bit more economical. However, the vodka we get is still nothing like the real Russian stuff. Even so, I'll be buying some for my party.

And I'll have a keg, hopefully full of Guinness.

People bang on about stuff like Richard Hennessy and whatnot. And while I do like the odd drop of Lagavulin once in a while, to the extent I drink liquor these days its Johnnie Walker Black.

So I'll say Johnnie Walker Black is the best.

I really far prefer wine though.

Good man.

What about when you're in the mood for something sweet?

They had this stuff a while back, Ke-Ke Beach, that tasted like a Key Lime pie in a glass. I love lime (favorite drink is a gimlet or kamikaze), so it was a natural match. It fell out of fad, so it's gone now. When I want citrus and sweet, I settle for Limoncello.

I have to second the bourbon....Love makers mark, also found a bottle of canadian club under my father in laws sink that had been there since 1967......talk about smooth. I also like seagrams 7 with a splash of 7 up. As far as tequila goes to me unless its an off brand that I have never heard or a designer tequila, theres not a big difference. Also my father used to have a friend who lived in tennessee who periodically sent mason jars full of home made mash to him. The taste left a bit to be desired but since i was only 21 at the time i was more interested in the buzz. That stuff made me climb trees and howl at the moon:p

Change the bar and you have a good night for me to :) though to be honest I only have a cigar about once every 4 months ... I got a good taste for them but in general I dont smoke only for very special occations

But other then that a good cut of steak, medium rare and followed by a good glass of whiskey (or whisky) as a follow up is absolutly a great way to spend an evening

Hell a big fan of the out in the sunday sun ... nice spring afternoon, couple of big steaks and some nice dark beer and a webber grill as well

Hm... I kind of like this drink you´re describing. Vodka with fresh apple juice. Sounds yummy.

As for vodka, I´m not much of a conossieur. (and I´m sure I murdered that word) I´ve had Finlandia vodka, Stolichnaya and Popov (which I regret!).

what are you talking about Popov is awesome!

(ok, ok. I love me some vodka, but even I have to admit the stuff is horrible)

Rum.

Doesnt matter what kind. I like Cpt Morgan. But Rum in general is where its at. Or a good german beer.

Gotta say, we don't agree on much, but we both have good taste in drinks!

Stay away from Newcastle Brown Ale. Seriously. It's nasty stuff and has unpleasant side effects. Like the uncontrollable desire to race pigeons or own a whippet.

I've always wanted to try absinthe, but unfortunately, it's illegal here in the U.S.:(

Why does the US hate freedom so much? Absinthe is lovely - all that stuff about it making you mad is cupboard. Bibble.

St. George Spirits Whiskey. I believe it's Irish style. Good rum is always fun, vodka is good for mixing some drinks.

Personally I hate bourbon.

As far as rum goes, give Sailor Jerry's a try, stronger then the captain and around the same price, and tastes great.

It's called whisky. Or uisge-beatha (pronounced ieesh-ka baah) if your from the Western Isles/a poncy Scot.

And it kicks the shit.

But wouldn't it be Scotch Whisky? To show the difference between Scotch whisky and Irish whisky? Or is it when it is Irish spelt with an 'e'? And then what about Tennesee Whisky? or is that with an 'e'?

Please help while I drink this glass of Brandy, no one can say I have that wrong. Or can they?

It's Scotch Whisky and Irish Whiskey. Tennessee/Bourbon Whiskey is usually spelled with the "e" included, though not always.

When you have the chance, try El Jimador Tequila, it´s excellent.

Simple question.

I'll go with my 151, tastes so good, and you can get a decent buzz off it fairy easily, good for parties.

Jack Daniels Whiskey OR Captain Morgan Gold Spiced Rum. Call me lame but they're both goooood

I know, 3 shots can get me pretty fucked up, 2 shots a person normally gets most ppl decently drunk, so you can have a decent sized get together on 2 bottles. Lightweight :p

Sourz are nice, but at only 15% don’t think they count as spirits. I do like a bit of Irish Cream Whiskey but to be honest not a big liquor drinker. You sort of go off it when your 14, drink a bottle of £10 famous grouse and spend the rest of the night with a bucket and three gallons of water.

The absolute (no pun intended) best of the best Vodka? Chopin...100% pure Polish potato vodka...Kettle One is a fair sub though...

BTW If you got the balls, Absynth can be aquired over the internet (fuck homeland security:upyours:)...I got some from the Czeck Republic, that and some Cannibus Vodka, they sent it marked as tinciture (sp?) for health (tee-hee) The vodka was a novelty, It tasted like crap...Really cool label though...:D

When I mean shots, I mean those big Amusement park ones you can get that are twice the size, still lightweight I know, but still, I dont drink enough to be able to pound that stuff :)

Try a " Joltbomb "

6-7 shots of your fave hard shit, then mix in half a can of jolt. its damn good.

Scottish whisky is always without an 'e', while Irish and American whiskey always has an 'e'.

But then why wouldn't it just be called Scotch?
Because that's not its name.

If anything, it should be called 'Scottish'. There is no such place as Scotchland, nor are there any people know as the Scotch.

Anybody here into cocktails? I'm partial to whiskey sours.

I also invented my own cocktail drink called Lake Water, cuz it looks like lake water. Heres how I make it:

1 part Sprite or 7up
1 part Golden Grain or Everclear
1 part red hot mix
1 part melon liquor
1 part Yeager
1 part butterscotch

Looks like muddy water, but it tastes like candy.

Figures that it would be diluted, but I'll have to see if I can get down to Boston and get some.

And yet we have such things as Scotch sausages. Considering that not only people on here but many other people around the world have called it Scotch Whisky or simply Scotch I do not think that is the right answer and I am sure there is some explanation as to why Scotch is appropriate to use rather than Scottish.

But then why wouldn't it just be called Scotch? Mainly when talking generally.

Because people are lazy and there's not much else in the drinking world that begins with the word "Scotch," so simply saying the word makes it pretty clear what is meant, despite the fact that the full name is "Scotch Whisky" (meaning in the strictest sense "from Scotland" or in the more loose sense "in the Scottish style").

The spelling of the word "Whisky" or "Whiskey" is just a regional preference that became formalized. Same as the difference in spelling between British and American English on all sorts of things. It's just that the product in question has differences in style that correlate with the same boundaries that the difference in spelling does, which is why only Scotch is spelled without the "e".

Port good. Whiskey good. Sake good. Zinfandel (and a few others) good. Fire Water chased with Zinfandel = best.
