Does God Love Fred Phelps?

Katganistan

Well?

Explain.

I would have to say yes, but not for the reason that you may think. As one of his creations, God probably does love Phelps, not because of his vitriol and bile, but in spite of it.

Question: so, is there a "God Hates California" site up yet? ;)

The God that loves Phelps is the twisted God that Phelps has created in the minds of his followers. A Fire and Brim Stone God; the God of Job.

G-d built this world on the principle of mercy. He is infinitely merciful. That said, he does not like Phelps' constant blasphemy.

I think that, if there is a god and it's anything like my conception of god, god does indeed love Fred Phelps, in the same way a parent continues to love a child even after that child grows up to be a murderer. You can be horribly saddened by and disappointed in someone without ceasing to love them.

I'm not sure Fred Phelps even exists, you guys seem more real than he is.
Mostly because i don't recall seeing the guy on TV or anything, uh not that i have a TV.
hmmm that would explain it, but i don't see this strange creature on the internet either.

So in that respect If God were to exist, why would he love something which doesn't exist?
oh i get it, is this like when people want freedom but they know it will never truely happen?

Honestly, I don't know why a (if any) just and loving God has not already killed of such a hate filled man. It just goes to prove Lewis Black's theory that the good die young, but pricks live forever. So, God must love pricks...

Which kind of goes more on to prove God is a woman; since women tend to go for jerks.

ah yes you've come across the problem of evil.
this can be roughly summed up as

There are acts of terrible and painful things which humans inflict on one another
If God does exist then he either doesn't care or he hates you

It's possible that this God doesn't know humans exist, in the same way none of us know exactly how many bacteria are eating each other.

Don't we have enough "Does God loves/believe/etc." threads?

I think God loves every one of his creation, he may not like the choices we make or how we shape our lives, but he does love us. However, when Phelps dies (IF he ever dies) he will have to answer for his life on earth, just like everyone else.

All consuming?

Are you sure you didn't mean omnipotent? Meh, God does tend to eat up a lot of the General Forum, though.

nice one

who says he is?

I mean if you take in how animals act the strange survival methods humans use (such as communication) it would appear if a God did make us, there's a very strong chance that God doesn't really have a sense of morality.
basically it's possible that God doesn't understand humans among many other things.

If you take into account the infinity of the universe then is it not also possible that God even though he might be all powerful is trying to learn about the infinite knew things arriving all the time?
perhaps he has no time for animals, let alone ones that can eat each other why do you think viruses exist?

So it would be like a Mod that doesnt reads all the posts in the forum and doesnt really cares?

I don't know about that. seeing as Mods don't get paid for what they do, and it's likely they have other responisibilities they probably can't read every single post and respond to all of them.

but other than that your analogy is about right.

Probably not, because I am a human with weaknesses such as emotive-biological biases towards my own relatives.

One assumes God is different, being God and all.

Of course one might as well assume God is just a big human male, complete with semen-spewing capability, petty wrath and short temper, political and social biases, and probably hair on his back too.

I think it's deeper than that. I think God must love him not only because Phelps is His son, but because if there's good in that man's heart, God can see it.

I didn't vote because I didn't want to talk for God. Fred does that, he thinks he speaks for God, and I think he and his followers should burn in hell. I see no good in their hearts. They have no shame either.

Isn't it interesting how they claim to be christians, but they never mention Jesus. It's always God Hates this, and Thank God for that... blah...blah...is punishment from God.

They never mention Jesus. Maybe that's because He was everything they aren't.
