Yes, obviously D&D has been around since the 2nd Century AD.

How many people on NS General have played, or still play D&D?

I'm presently running a D&D game off-site, as well as two other pen and paper-type RPGs.

Poll would be nice.

I wish I could play some D&D-ish games, but I have nobody to play with, and my attempts to play such online didn't go very well.

I've got a bi-weekly 1st Edition game I run every other Friday. We even have our own website and forums :)

I don't care about the game, positive or negative, but that is a fascinating artifact you've linked to... thanks.

Can you imagine trying to make a twenty sided die from hand? Ouch.

Never played...never really understood it...

But then again I RP on NationStates, have played RPG's on consoles for ages, have played MMORPG's before, and played Magic the Gathering for like a year or so in my youth, so I can't exactly look down on dungeons on dragons. If people like it, more power to them.

I still play when I can, but I'm currently searching for a nem campaign to join.

I haven't played D&D, but I desperately want to.

However since that option wasn't on the poll I just said I was too stoned to answer.

My husband and his former college roommates play still, often they let me join. I have played a quick game or two with the children, it's good for practicing math and also for critical thinking and imagination.

I could never get into it. I don't have the imagination for it I suppose.

um... you do know that dice and gambling have been around for ages. Dice has also been used as fortunetelling devices.

with that being said...

They are usually hiding in comic book stores.

I've checked. None. Well, not that we have a store exculsivly for comics here, but I checked the comics section of the pharmacy. Yeah, I live in a small town.:D

Look on the RPGA website and see if anyone is running official games in your area. The RPGA games tend to be less fun, but you might be able to use them to get into a regular gaming group.

I've never been good at D&D... I can't stay in character.

"Now my little plastic figurine advances forward and rolls a die twice its size in an attempt to hit a gremlin hiding on the opposite side of the board."

Oddly enough, I'm just fine with roleplaying on NS.... I think. <.<

RPGA games tend to be far too rulesy. I prefer the flexibility a homebrew game provides.

And those fuckers STILL haven't sent me an RPGA membership card.

I play D&D on a weekly basis.

Also trying to start up a D20 Modern (present day based D&D) game on another forum, though Wizards of the Coast have the rules for D20 Modern up on their site for free download...and in Word format!

I used to have a regular group back home. I am currently involved in several play-by-post games online.
