How did the National Socialist party do it? Anyone know, in layman's terms?

Can you be a little more specific? Or are you asking how they managed to recover from the great depression? Or how they managed to improve the economy to an extent that (seemingly) bettered Weimar Germany? If I understand what you mean by 'reverse recession'.

State control of the economy, basically. They took over production and macromanaged such that the human resource was efficiently distributed as was needed for the major industrial projects to restimulate growth.

Oh, and they relentlessly stole from and repressed minorities too, but that was unnecessary from an economic point of view.

It also depends on the time period, when Schacht was fired for protesting against the insane demand from re-armament, economic policy was radically changed again. However, I'm very sceptical of how successful Germany actually was, remember Hitler didn't count women in employment figures, effectively halving unemployment. Ultimately though, I believe it was nothing to do with Nazi policy, since recovering from the depression was inevitable for Germany anyway.

Don't forget rearmament and expansion of the military. All of a sudden the military was huge, whihc eliminated a lot of unemployment. The need to rearm led to thousands going back to work in factories. Everyone was employed and making money. When that happens and faith is restored in the economy and the government there is no recession

So, kind of like how the United States reversed their economy through war production for WWII?

Exactly. Wars, and especially total wars like WWII, always raise the economy. If you remember, the US's economy went up during "Iraqi Freedom" too. (Granted it's in the shits now...but that was during the beginning of the war.)

When everyone is working towards the war effort, economy goes up. WWII is the biggest cause of the end of the Great Depression, which Germany was certainly a part of. Hitler building tanks and guns saved the nation, for the time being at least. Too bad he then decided to systematically eliminate certain minorities and plung the world into another war.
