Your most loved Sports car?

What is that sports car that you love more than any other car in the world? And why do you like it?

For me it has to be the Corvette Z06.

Great car, looks GREAT. Has that great American V8 rumble. Handles like a dream. Hell, its even faster than a Ferrari F430 around a race track. And its only 80,000 dollars ( easily in my reach after school )

me? I'd be happy with a car that runs...

*evil look at my car*

In real world, I'd just like a standard car that runs.... maybe a Subaru Liberty...

However, If for some reason I didn't have anything worthwhile to spend my money on, I'd probably go for a ferrari of some variety... (F50 anyone?)

My Aston Martin v8 Vantage :)

2nd most beatiful car in the world, but the db9 itself was out of my budget.

My car tops out at around 120, has decent 0-60 speed, is light, and is reliable. It also gets 45 miles per gallon for city driving, and 50 for highway driving.

Can't complain.

Poor, poor you, having to settle for only the V8.

:p

Jealous? Me? Ha! *Nervous cough*

I love Astons, and various Jags as well. The current XK is a great car. But I also think Alfa's are beautiful cars, and have often been tempted even though I know that underneath the pretty face is a shitty car.

Overall, though, my vote would also have to go for the DB9/V8 Vantage family.

Porsches. All of them. The most Le Mans wins, the most sports car wins-hell, the first one sold raced the next weekend and won.

If I had to pick a favorite I guess I'd go with the 1973 911 RS. Or the 904 GTS. If it doesn't have to be street legal in a country you've heard of, the 917k. If it must be a modern sports car it'd have to be either the GT3 RS or the Cayman S. Or I guess a GT2, but I'm kind of depressed it doesn't race.

It's just a perfectly refined sports car, the watermark. The stick by which all other sports cars measure themselves.

Umm... this is difficult.

you say sports car, not supercar, so cut out the super duper ferraris, the ferrair 612 is nice and just this side of the supercar line (IMO) but whet I have at the moment is a Fairlady 280Z (not the US 280Z, but the japanese market one that sold as the 280zx in the states) a good engine tune and trim off the smog ger and they're nice, cheap, reasonably reliable, fun sporty little cars.

Otherwise I like the MG convertibles, I had a MGF for a while, fun little pocket rocket :D

Can I take slight issue with your accusation that under Alfa's lies a shitty car.
Aye they break and they were put together by a Chimpanzee with learning difficulties, but yu canna argue that the first 10 miles of driving before they break down are some of the best 10 miles you will ever have in a motor car. Just make sure you have a damn good deal with the AA or RAC.

My vote lies either with the Alfa Brera S or just about any Aston Martin you want to name. Its sooo hard to tell.

I have to be controversial and say that I'm not overly keen on the Brera. I think it's got a fat arse. But I have spent many an hour looking at a the GT, thinking "yeah, it'll break, but just look at it"!

Mind you, I've been running a Fiat now for over a year, supposedly one of the most unreliable cars you can buy, and haven't had so much as a single problem with it. I, therefore, know I should be careful about avoiding cars on the basis of reputation.

Aye, Fiats have become much better in recent years, to the point where I am actually considering a Punto when I graduate.
I must admit that I feel the same whether I look at a GT or a Brera. Lord Richard Hammond's assertion that a picture of one qualifies as porn I think is well made. But if we are going to lapse into fantasy what about the 8C Competizione? There is a wee pushcar version in the garage near my house for £195 and i'm tempted even though I dont have a kid. Just so I can say I own perhaps the most beautiful human being recepticle created by man since the Oops I Did It Again video.

qft, Alfa's are amazing when they work, just too much off a hassle with the too frequent break downs.

@philosophy: I'd go for a neener neener here ;)

I like the look of the old stingray vettes, but they're no match for the modern stuff...

I tend to also like little roadsters...the Mercedes AMG SLKs are nice.

Quoted For Truth

I'd settle for anything made by TVR (Less money and more excitement - you really need to drive these suckers - than Astons or Porsches)

I tried a TVR, awesome on the circuit, less so on the road imho.
Very fun to put it through its passes though.

How long did it take you to get in the door? I love TVR's they are so quirky but brutally fast when you get them going.

Get in the door ? as in: getting into the car ? didnt really pay attention to that :)

If you meant: getting an official test drive, i didnt, a friend owns one.

Nah, i meant physically opening the door. Many TVRs have the door handle as a neat wee thing hidden beneath the wing mirror. It is to seperate those who think TVR from those who don't. ;-)
