Scanning the forum i realised most of these posts/threads are about a particular something. They have a meaning or a question, an answer or some advice. But this is the 'General' area, so what about the general stuff?

I mean, sure we can ask people their opinions on global warming, video games, band names and even what kind of porn they are into *cough cough*, But what about a thread involving everyday stuff? What about if we were to just post as if in a normal conversation, about, well, nothing?
If it is healthy to socialize and interact with human beings, why do we not talk like them?

Granted, it is normal to have conversations about meaningful topics in day to day life, but what if we were to use a thread just to say hello and how are you? hows your day been? did you get drunk last night and if so did you score?
Maybe its just me, but if it wasnt me id post there.

Im confused and a bit scared but somehow intrigued.

Being confused and a bit scared, yet intrigued sounds like a common emotional mindset when reading this forum. And in answer to your question: I did not get drunk last night and I did not score either.

I like the idea but the forum is set up as it is because generally useless threads or ones that wander all over the place are considered spam. They are then moved into the depths of the forums.

However if everyone is writing in it and it's popular then why should it be moved/deleted?

If this (general conversation) is considered SPAM, then what is links of funny pictures? Questions about that band name is best?

Isnt it all just general, and if so, why cant the generalness be compacted into a single thread for those who wish it to be so?

Well then Anything & Everything is misleading. And in fact, so is 'General' because if im not mistaken, General does mean, everything and anything really.

You'd be talking to yourself because no one really goes to spam. As to why it's a rule, it's because people don't want serious threads to be buried beneath pages of blog like threads.

The criteria is, broadly speaking, 'something to discuss'. So, 'what kind of porn do you like' is ok, although it's probably pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable in terms of adult content. 'How was your day' is not okay, because that's not a discussion, it's just chat.

Yep. But I do sometimes sneak it in serious threads.

Yes they do. Many of the posts here start with news articles: Kiribati is sinking, Driver plows into a bicycle race, stabbing spree in japan. However, you must give the mass of Generalites something to discuss something about (or not even related to) the article.

I think the most recent record for a 'fun' thread here was about 12 pages. (kudos, rhyno)

basic gist of the mods, if you wanna have fun go somewhere else... (My hangout of choice: The SSA (http://z8.invisionfree.com/ssa05))
