I need Tech Help.

I bought a router, Belkin Wireless G router, and I've got everything connected. It's just that the connection isn't secure, there's no WEP. Also I don't have a disc or anything with the router, it was given by a friend. Is there any way to set that up without a disc?

Did I even explain all that tecno-babble correctly?

Open a browser window, type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. Type in "Admin" for both username and password. That will get you all the settings (if it's in default state). If it isn't, do a settings reset and then do that.

Oh my old Linksys, the logo on the front was the hardware reset button. You can look up the make and model online and see how to do it if you can't find it.

Btw, that "admin" might be all lowercase instead of an uppercase A. I can't remember for sure.

You need to connect the polyurithane framistam to the guna gista. That way the electro micorcondia can connect to the framistam gista and complete the connection with vini vertins. :D

Didn't work meaning it didn't give you a password prompt or the account didn't work? Not all routers are 192.168.1.1. D-Link had a different one.
Try going to Google and typing "log into belkin wireless router" even better if you know the designation.

Go to Start>Run and type in cmd

When the black screen comes up, type /ipconfig

Look for your default gateway, and type that address into your browser.

Okay, that worked. Now I need to put in a WEP key, can that just be any random number?

Your router should have a WEP key generator off a phrase (at least, that's how most work), and once it generates one, then you use it.

Otherwise, enter either 10 or 26 numbers from 0-F.

Also, if you just bought it, it should be WPA. Not only is it more secure, it's easier to use!

All this trouble and their network still isn't secure. Does this mean we can restart the thread all over from the beginning again?
