The diagnosis of a dangerous cult

Hello dear friends. I am making this post to express my concern of the rampant spread of a most vile religion in this fair land of ours. It seems, like many cults, that it is fashioned around a corrupt, vacuous false prophet. The facts speak for themselves. No, really:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ghSJsEVf0pU
As someone who believes strongly in the American ideal of secularism, I propose that all advocacy of this cult be banned, as it is having a harmful effect on the fragile young minds of our populace. Not only is it centred around a charlatan, but it is turning into a full-blown cult, not all too different from scientology.

Here we go then...
There's a church in South Carolina that decided to make use of it's outdoor message board to write - Osama, Obama, Brothers?
A church?
This kind of thing is only going to serve Barack Obama, the nastiness that will be shown by the underbelly of America will only drive people to vote for him, if not for shame.
John McCain's biggest problem may well be his own electorate.

What's even worse is that it's a really BAD attempt as well.

Being against Obama, or indeed any political figure, is certainly a legitimate position. However, you do your position no favors by announcing your opposition in such a melodramatic fashion, nor by feigned concern for those with whom you disagree that they have "been taken in" by a "cult". If you wished to impress people here with your oratory, this was not the way to go about it. You must be joking. Are you some sort of legal positivist? Racism is wrong, but communism is a-okay, because the former is illegal and the latter legal? Of course, this isn't even true. I've not yet heard of anyone go to prison for expressing racist opinions; but of course, that'd mark the transition of the US from a theocracy to a madhouse.

Comparing a politician to a religious leader of any sort is absurd, unless you're talking about Lyndon LaRouche. They're two very different spheres of human activity, and although it may be possible to combine the two in one leader, it would not be possible to do so without being rather obvious about it. Charisma alone does not a cult leader make. Obama is simply a run-of-the-mill liberal with a better than average personality. Still, McCain is entirely unacceptable, so Obama probably has my vote.

The love interest in Footloose says to her pulpit preaching dad "Its show business, isn't it, Daddy?"
If you want to garner folk to your banner in anything, whether its religion, politics, or a petition to dissolve your homeowners association (the lattermost being the only truly pure and good goal in human affairs), then at some point, its going to be show business.
Whether your party, church, or motorcycle gang is of the finest or foulest purpose, a bit of music and visual craft is going to find its way into your practice.
Although one would hope that any message of merit wouldn't need trappings, or might fear that the science of mass marketing would only serve to pollute something of real value, if you want your idea to get any attention from real numbers, you must willingly set your foot into the orchid clad swamp of dressing it up.
The difference is, some dress up to draw attention to the substance, others to divert attention from the lack of substance.
I don't know which one Obama is, but anybody that wants or needs the many for what they intend to accomplish, they must accept that the many sometimes need showbusiness to keep focused. Sad but occasionally the case...

Theres no right answer, theres no wrong answer. In fact. There is no answer to any of it. If there was, we wouldnt have any political, race, religion etc issues in the world. Ever.

The idea of American secularism doesn't attack or require the banning of cults or religion. Secularism in America refers to the fact that our government will remain secular in matters of religion.
The government has no authority policing religion. It's function is to provide for our common defence and protect us from fraud, force, and inforce contracts.
Anything else it does is a violation of all our individual rights.
