My arts are from Saturn, not Mars. ;)

Heh, first I'd like to apologize for the title, I really couldn't help myself.

Well, I'd like to ask, what, if any, Martial Art do you people practice? I see a lot of threads talking about politics and religion on here, and nothing on the Martial Arts. Tell us a little about your Art, too!

I would have made this a poll, but the list of Martial Arts is so extensive, I decided not to.

I don't take any whoop-ass. I give it.

My husband teaches Taekwondo to underprivileged kids in the summer... sometimes I watch. That's about as close as I get. Lots of talk about like patience and being responsible, then they all get up and kick and shout. I have no clue. The kids seem to really dig it though.

Martial arts? Meh. Good old fashioned two-older-brothers style here. Learn to fight against stronger opponents and hold your own. I do prefer to grapple rather than punch, choke over bludgeoning.

Leaves fewer marks, and it doesn't hurt your fist.

I practice Villari's Shaolin Kempo Karate. It's basically an Americanized combination of Kung Fu, Kempo, and Karate. I hold a 3rd degree brown belt.

Started with TKD when I was a kid...

Then some Jiujitsu, following with kickboxing and then Judo.

Tried Capoeira for a couple of weeks...

Been intrigued with Brazilian Vale Tudo, but still thinking about it.

I used to take karate and taekwando... but those days ended once the parental financing of them ended.

Now I take kendo and kyudo on my own buck and I realize every month almost painfully that half of my monthly pay cheque goes to budo.

Transvestitism. The only way that kicking another man in the knackers whilst wearing stilettos will ever be cricket.

I became rather accomplished at Shorin Ryu karate. Prior to that I took Judo.

As for whooping ass...

Funny thing. Once I learned it, I stopped getting into fights. Even when I taunted those who offered challenges and then backed down no one would rise to the bait. Even when I was alone and they were in groups.

I took some karate. I'm naturally good at it, but I'm a bit out of shape and only made it up to high white.

Karate for a while, then I found sensitive nerve clusters, certain ligaments and stress points in skeletal structures to be more effective in disabling people.

Some karate way back when and a few fun hold-breakers from a Marine. I would prefer to bring a knife to a fist fight, gun to a knife fight, and a BFG to a gun fight (assuming fights are unavoidable)
