Peackeepers accused of selling arms

According to a UN report, Ugandan Peacekeepers in Somalia have been selling weapons to Somali Insurgents.
The report, by the UN monitoring group on the Somali arms embargo, says Ethiopia, Eritrea and Yemen are also breaking the embargo.
It cites one incident in which a group of Ugandan soldiers allegedly received $80,000 for a transaction.
Some peacekeepers are accused of setting up an arms trading network through translators.
The Ugandan army has already dismissed the accusations as "absolutely ridiculous."
The report says the soldiers received a wish-list of weapons from arms dealers and the weapons were then supplied from stores of equipment seized from insurgents. The monitoring group says the weapons find their way back to the insurgent group they were captured from in the first place.

Well for an African conflict it makes a nice change for people to be selling arms rather than chopping them off.

Hmm, well it seems like some of the UN peacekeepers are corrupt. Surprise surprise!
But, I'm sure there are a small number of people in ANY group, military or civilian, who are corrupt and would have done the same thing.
Not that I have anything against the arms trade, but peacekeepers shouldn't really be selling weapons...that seems a bit hypocritical.

As said before they are not UN. They are African Union peace keepers.
sort of like the EU that never unified the currency but due to constant fighting with in Africa Unified the military.

Ah, I misread it then.
But many Africans nations are plagued by corruption, so there is no surprise that it would carry over into the peacekeepers.
And again, I'm sure there are people any organization who would have done this- not just AU peacekeepers.
