It honestly doesn't matter to me as I will not vote for him regardless, but who do you think it should be?

Ron Paul. That way the dems are sure to win. :)

I have little doubt that Crist would be an all-right choice.

Look, he needs a woman to either appeal to the disenfranchised Clinton crowd or to split the Clinton vote depending on who wins the Dem primary. Assuming identity politics of course...

I think his best bet is the Governor from Alaska (Sarah Palin), or even Condi...

If I were him I'd go for Condi. When the two contenders for Democratic candidate are a black man and a woman I think he should try to distance the Republican party from the idea that it's the party of and for rich white guys.

I say Condi for the simple fact she is smart as a whip. She also has a couple other qualities that would possibly give her support from a couple large groups of voters. Think of it this way for McCain's VP. Who do you want to be the next President of the United States. Reason being McCain has a high probability of dying in office.

But she also tied to the Bush administration and perhaps more importantly, the Iraq war. Both are highly unpopular and likely to get many voters to stay home or vote against the ticket.

That can be pushed aside really. She didn't have final say on things. That is most likely how they would play it. Might be a bit like Colin Powell and his image control after being let go.

Bobby Jindal or Condi Rice. Both are super smart and are minorities so as superficial as it sounds somehow that is important in this race. Which in reality is idiotic but some people can't grasp issues and must grasp visuals instead. Oh well.

fingers crossed it'll be Huckabee, just to really screw GOP.

Hey, what about Tim Pawlenty? He's been a big McCain loyalist for a long time, and has been mentioned by McCain himself as being on his list of contenders. He's also a popular Republican governor of one of the bluest states in the country (think Ah-nold, except that he can be elected president). McCain's got to fight hard against Obama for moderates, a vote that he could usually rely on in the past. Pawlenty could draw a good number of moderates without losing far-rightists who are worried that McCain may be jumping the conservative ship.

Also, he's the governor of my home state, Minnesota, so I may have a hometown bias.

Huckabee's actually enourmously popular amongst Republicans. That won't screw the GOP at all.

I can't wait for the Obama-McCain debates:

McCain: "the Shia are in Iraq working for Al Quada"
Obama: "You mean Sunnis?"
McCain: "Yeah, whatever, not important. Let me tell you something Barack. You are wanting to bomb Pakistan and I think that's atrocious"
Obama: "No, I wanted to bomb Al Quada, anywhere where they are hiding on the Afghani-Pakistan border!"
McCain: "Don't deny it senator. You secretly want to bomb Los Angeles, the capital of Pakistan..."

It will if his extreme religious beliefs get air-time. Along with the religious wackos McCain's been soliciting, having Huckabee on the card would drive away the moderates en masse, right into the arms of Obama.

In comparison to the Fundies, Huckabee's views are not that extreme. And is McCain's "war experience" getting the press much?

I think it should be former popular Republican governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee, since he came in second to John McCain for the Republican nomimation, As a way to unite the Republican party.

He is smart, funny, tough, charismatic, has a little of President Ronald Reagan in him.

But it looks like McCain will make another choice. While Republican Florida Governor Charlie Christ is a popular governor, he is considered a moderate Republican, so that should rule him out.

Popular Republican Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana would have Rush Limbaugh jumping for joy.

SOmeone as ancient and gristly as him. That way there's a better chance that Nancy Pelosi will become President. Not because I want her to, but because nothing makes me grin more than watching a Republican's veins throb. :D
