UEFA Finals-Man Red Takes It

Can you believe Ronaldo missed his PK? The best player in the world ALMOST let his team down.

And then Terry missed his PK to win it. The captain!!!

I feel like I died inside on that final shot-I decided to go for Chelsea.

Is it just in England that it's not known as the UEFA Champions League? Here, UEFA would signify the cup-winners cup, 'UEFA cup'.

Thrilling game all the same (and I don't support a club), it kind of felt fitting when Ronaldo missed and Terry stepped up to take the winner (him being such an inspiration for Chelsea constantly), and then missing...

I just call it the Champions League.

I'm a very happy, mildly drunk United fan. I did feel bad for Chelsea for about 30 seconds, but then I didn't care anymore :)

Nothing organised. It was just a few thousand people generally having a good time.

AS a Spurs fan I say this:

What an advert for English football the match was and to Ronaldo.. what a tw*t you are, if it was not for Terry missing and the Heroics of Mr De Sar, you'd be on the transfer list tomorrow... If you are gonna cock about.... don't do it in a shoot out!

Ah, football. Erm... soccer. Gotta love a sport that causes the productivity of an entire continent to grind to a halt during championships!

Personally, my sport is hockey. Go Red Wings!

To be fair Ronaldo did score the goal that got us to penalties, and took the golden boot in both the league and the european cup. He can do what the fuck he wants in the penalty shoot out and United won't sell him and nor should they.

If Terry had scored I guarentee you wouldnt be saying that, a lot of Utd fans on the razz after the game admited that to me and Fergie would have bollocked him if he was the cause of losing (which bar Terry's screw up and Van de Sar's excellent save he would have been!)

In a penalty shoot out YOU DO NO EFF AROUND

He took the penalty in the same way he always does. He just placed it in the area the keeper had already chosen.

No decent manager will blame a player for an on target penalty in a high pressure shoot out.

Southgate, Euro 96.. Trust me, Fergie would have been annoied, very annoied had the team lost thanks to the stupidity of Ronaldo... same way or not, he screwed up in a cup final shoot out and got lucky!

So you would sell the best player in the world for a badly placed penalty in a cup final?

Thank god you're not the United manager, we'd be playing in the conference.

As a purs fan, id gladly sell Ronaldo to a French or Spanish team willing to put up with the stupidity of his showing off and replace him with Berbatov...

He may be the best player in the world but his pathetic showmanship very nearly lost United a cup final

Sir Alex is unlikely to put up with that sor of crap much longer.. Instead of being the hero he should have been, his shannanigans left Van de Sar to be the hero...

In that penalty shoot out, it was a combination of Terry losing it and De Sar winning it when if Ronaldo had just taken the penalty properly It could have been Terry losing it!

Tell you what, when Berbatov gets 31 league goals in a season from any position, never mind the wing, I'll stop laughing at your suggestion.

You are looking at one poor penalty, I'm looking at the performance of Ronaldo over a whole season.

Sell the player who's scored the most goals by far, and who also happens to be one of the best footballers in the world right now, because he missed a single penalty? Not to mention the fact he scored the first goal, and has been a key part in this seasons success. Ummm...yeah, that sounds likely. Fergie wouldn't have been happy with him of course, but selling him over one mistake would be incredibly stupid.

Good thing you're not the manager :p

Ronaldo is, was and always will be the Portugese showman, Of course Berbatov will never score that many goals in a season simplt because no one will pass to the bastard who shoot even if scoring is an impossibiulity.. Hopefully fergy will buy him so Ronaldo or someone else can teach him he's not all that ;)

Besides.. 31 league goals in a season aint nothing compared with Stewart Yettons 2 major years at Truro FC :p.... a non league team of course :p

I bet you also thought that Cantona was too big for his boots.

Face it, Spurs are an also ran side but there's no profit in being bitter about our clearly superior players.

Ronaldo wasn't showboating, he often does that little check in his run because keepers sometimes give away what direction they're going at that point. What seems to have happened is that he just lost his nerve and stopped.

It's not like he got down on all fours and tried to head it in.

Nothing for me to bitter about. Fergie buys the players he thinks are good and runs with them.. Ronaldo makes any moe mistakes like he did tonight, he'll go tyhe way of Beckham!

I don't think Cantona was to big for his boots.. I think he was a fool who wasted so much on fly kicking that fan...

Hell, I remember '99 when Fergies boys picked up the trebble! YTou must admit as a Utd fan that going by Fergies track record, if Ronaldo doesn't stop fucking around he will be dropped as a first 11 player.

Sure his header for the first goal of the match was brilliant made all the better by the play before hand which left Chelsea basically thinking wtf!

My question is, if Ronaldo's miss had cost you the cup, would you be praising him. If your honest answer is yes then I salute you, if not then, STFU

I'll state this very simply for you.

I would be prasing Ronaldo regardless of what happened tonight. He has been a fantastic servant of Old Trafford for 3 seasons now and one game wouldn't change that.

Beckham didn't go due to a single mistake.

In all the debate over Ronaldo, we forget to pile on JT, the biggest bully in football and I'm happy he missed that penalty - fine he slipped - but ha ha frankly, he's 50 times more arrogant that Ronaldo, who can at least play rather than use his bulk to bully people off the pitch.

I'm also happy Roman Abramovich lost in Moscow, all in all it's a shame Cambridge United didn't win it of course, especially after having lost the league play-offs against infernal Exeter but still, I'd rather Chelsea lost than Man. U, mostly due to my dislike of JT.

Who are here in HK right now, they're playing a China XI tonight.

Anyway, in the end it's the name etched in the cup that will be remembered not the penalty misses, not even the goals scored, just the winners.

So well done Man. U, it does seem fitting given 50 years from Munich and 40 years from their first victory.
