Hey there forum goers. To clarify things, this post used to be entitled "America: Does Everyone Really Hate Us". However, after getting some responses informing me of another thread(that I had read and forgot about.oll) that had the same topic. Well, now this thread is dedicated to anything your heart wishes. The only topics not up for discussion are politics and Rick Astley.
Thank You, and Have a nice Boxing Day, comrades.

I wouldn't be surprised. That's what happens when you go invading people for shits and giggles while giving the international community the finger.

Hello Forum-goers! Recently I've been seeing all these posts that seem to imply that people from other countries seem to dislike us, or have very odd stereotypes about us. Anyone care to answer the question: "Is the United States of America the most hated country on Earth?"
No, that would be China. North Korea comes a close second, and THEN the USA.

"Do you hate us?", "Are we disliked?" (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=557022), etc ad nauseum.

I tell you what, we REALLY hate your insecurity and can't always be reassuring you. It got too tiresome after you invented the internet.

oll, i will say that our government has gotten a bit....corrupt, to put it mildly. But mind you few Americans of high intelligence support those wars (though many of low intelligience are against it also). But just letting everyone know, I'm under 18, and I did not vote, nor could I vote, in anything, so please, rather than saying you americans, just say "Americans"

It is kind of nice to know if all those goddamn news articles are actually telling the truth, though. Sometimes you can't really tell if they're lying their asses off or if the press is actually-gasp, shock-telling the truth!

Besides, we need to know who hates us most so we know who to invade next!

I'm not talking about politiions, I'm talking about the country itself. Everyone hates Bush, and those who claim not to are merely afraid of the secret police. Woops! I mean the CIA. Disregard the last part ;)

That would be our leadership, which our public opinion polls would tell you we pretty much don't like and are working to change.
Not us.
Well, not most of us, anyway (every country has their stupid bigots). If I can separate your people from your leadership, why can't you do the same for me?

No. It's just that Americans aren't used to criticism of their country, so whenever someone points out something bad, it's viewed as "hate".

And that's the real meat of the question, isn't it? It would seem to me that someone of intelligence could distinguish governmental policy from your average citizen.. I hate (and America is not alone in this) that so many people place blanket hatred on a country because of the actions of an albeit powerful few.

To hate people from a country is generalizing, I take no part in what our government does, thats like me saying I know hate all Germans for what happened sixty years ago, or that I hate all Brazilians because of the radical slavery. You are all hypocrites. Take into consideration that our approval of our government is extremely low, so not many of us approve of where this country is headed, but then again, America is a mother country, we have money and power, and if we played no part in the world we would be criticized for not helping people. Notice that we stayed out of Africa during the genocides, but then we were hated for not helping out the innocent. We were abused for Vietnam, but when we took part there were riots.

People are stupid. I do not approve of the war today, but then to argue would be saying that people wouldn't argue if we weren't trying to help, which would happen because most of you just follow fads. It could be a lack of education, but nevertheless, it is fun to hear stupid people argue politics when they know none of the facts.

ok, I'll break from the irrelevance for this one. This is a message to all other Americans. The French saved us in the revolution, and as a result of the lost funds that went to our war effort the country rioted and had a bloody revolution. They may not have won really any wars in recent time, but we must always help them because of their sacrafice for us. now, back to irrelavance!

Probably did. Before 1938, he was quite the populist hero. After 1940 most of Europe had to say what he fucking well told them to.

The average American (From the USA) is great. I like all the ones I know. Do not let this get out, but some seem friendlier than many Canadians.

It is the famous ones who get the rest of the world riled up. I mean, come on: Any country that concurrently unleashes Britney Spears and George Bush on an unsuspecting world is bound to be detested.

Anyway, as for the new purpose of the thread: I prefer water-based paint to oil-based. AND, I did one of those online "which character are you" quizzes, and as far as Battlestar Galactica goes, I am CPO Galen Tyrol. He likes water paints too*!
