pleasure please because the other is generally quite rubbish and over hyped

edit: was I the only one who was thinking of staying in bed all day (pleasure) against going out and doing some stupid climbing (pain)?

I'm allergic to pain.
The Parkus Empire
19-05-2008, 15:57
I ache for the touch of your lips, dear,
But much more for the touch of your whips, dear.
You can raise welts
Like nobody else,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

Let our love be a flame, not an ember,
Say it's me that you want to dismember.
Blacken my eye,
Set fire to my tie,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

At your command
Before you here I stand,
My heart is in my hand...
Yeech!
It's here that I must be.

My heart entreats,
Just hear those savage beats,
And go put on your cleats
And come and trample me.

Your heart is hard as stone or mahogany,
That's why I'm in such exquisite agony.
My soul is on fire,
It's aflame with desire,
Which is why I perspire when we tango.

You caught my nose
In your left castanet, love,
I can feel the pain yet, love,
Ev'ry time I hear drums.

And I envy the rose
That you held in your teeth, love,
With the thorns underneath, love,
Sticking into your gums.

Your eyes cast a spell that bewitches.
The last time I needed twenty stitches
To sew up the gash
That you made with your lash,
As we danced to the Masochism Tango.

Bash in my brain,
And make me scream with pain,
Then kick me once again,
And say we'll never part.

I know too well
I'm underneath your spell,
So, darling, if you smell
Something burning, it's my heart... [hiccup]
'Scuse me!

Take your cigarette from its holder,
And burn your initials in my shoulder.
Fracture my spine,
And swear that you're mine,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

Oh, ye GAWDS! Shopping for bath oils is the most tedious pain EVAH. If the "IT" is acquiring bath oils, then yeah, I suppose the pain would do it for me. But if the "IT" is getting me off, then no -- a thousand times NO! -- that pain does not do it for me. ;)

I didn't say it stops it being painful. It's just also pleasurable. So it's not a binary opposition. It's not black or white. Do you see what I mean?

I quite enjoy pain - to an extent - in the bedroom.

Pleasure, thank you. At least in terms of bedroom gymnastics.

Of course that is more due to fact that those who give pain tend to be controlling and those who receive it and like it tend to want to be controlled (Er, sexually speaking of course). Since neither appeals to me...

No.

Common misconception. You can mix pain and pleasure...the pain will tend to be reduced and bearable because of the pleasure, and it can heighten said pleasure. But what I enjoy is pain. Not pain mixed with pleasure. Oh don't get me wrong...pleasure is find, pain and pleasure mixed is better...but what really turns my crank in extreme ways is actual pain. Nor is 'enjoyment' perhaps the best way to describe how a masochist experiences pain. Nor is saying 'pain is pleasurable' to a masochist accurate.

It's an entirely different kind of sensation than pleasure, and it puts you into an entirely different headspace.

What I'm saying is that pleasure and pain are not polar opposites.

Perhaps you and I have a different definition of pleasure: to me, pleasure is something you find pleasurable, something that you enjoy doing.

I enjoy some pain, and while the fact that I enjoy it doesn't make it any less painful, it does make it somwhat pleasurable.

Pain is generally not pleasurable for me, except for some instances in the bedroom, and I would never describe pain as a pleasure outside of a sexual context.

So don't assume that I'm one of those people that is saying "It's not painful if it's pleasurable!!!one1."
Neesika
22-05-2008, 18:10
What I'm saying is that pleasure and pain are not polar opposites. And if you didn't want to sound as though you were speaking in absolutes, you would say 'not always polar opposites'. That absolute tone is what I was reacting to, not the mind-reading I would have had to engage in to divine your actual intent despite the words you used.

Perhaps you and I have a different definition of pleasure: to me, pleasure is something you find pleasurable, something that you enjoy doing. I suppose I'm using pleasure in the sensational aspect in order to relate it to the sensational meaning of 'pain'. But even still, 'pleasure' used the way you're talking about it doesn't actually fit for many masochists. Because quite often, you don't enjoy doing something painful...you enjoy being able to endure it, you enjoy the rush you get when it's over...the actual pain itself is not pleasurable in any sense of the word.

Oddly, the sexual context I enjoy pain in the most involves absolutely no sexual gratification for me, but rather the person inflicting the pain. And I do enjoy pain outside of 'the bedroom'. Again, enjoyment in the sense of 'I endured it'.

Ugh, 'enjoy' is also misleading. I think it's more like...running until you feel like your lungs are going to explode, your legs are shaking, and you feel light-headed. Endorphin rush.

Because quite often, you don't enjoy doing something painful...you enjoy being able to endure it, you enjoy the rush you get when it's over...the actual pain itself is not pleasurable in any sense of the word.

Then we're talking about different types of pleasure. And, if you enjoy being able to do it, and you enjoy the rush, the pain experience could be - by my definition - still pleasurable.

Oddly, the sexual context I enjoy pain in the most involves absolutely no sexual gratification for me, but rather the person inflicting the pain. And I do enjoy pain outside of 'the bedroom'. Again, enjoyment in the sense of 'I endured it'.

I personally find that someone else's sexual gratification is gratifying in itself.
I'm not really into pain outside of the bedroom, though. Anyway, I think this just comes to having different ideas about it.

Ugh, 'enjoy' is also misleading. I think it's more like...running until you feel like your lungs are going to explode, your legs are shaking, and you feel light-headed. Endorphin rush.
