Yes, I feel awesome right now. Last night was my school's prom and I requested for the DJ to play "Never gonna give you up" by Rick Astley. It's a shame that only a few people in the room knew what was going on, but it was totally worth it.

On a scale of 1-10, how awesome am I?

Taking an internet fad tp r/l.. about a 0 of the cool/Awesome/rad meter.

10 on the nerdgasm meter

and off the scale on the guts meter... Would have been more fun to have the dj announce at the end You've been rick roll'd

1-10 with 10 being good?

1, its been killed and I'm surprised you seem to live in some sort of sub-Rock town where the population don't groan when it plays (I was tempted to go into - due to your going to a prom but whatever)

Zero points for using a stupid internet meme in real life, and then -5 for doing it wrong.

If you're going to use a puppet account to make it look like people support your actions, you should probably make sure you're on the puppet account before posting.

because I'm not puppeting dummy. I'm laughing at everybody else's comments. I did this knowing full well what type of responses I would get, and it's hilarious

Meh. If you had hacked the DJ's computer in the middle of the Macarena, then that would be good, but just requesting the song isn't rickrolling.

to make it cool you got to do it to someone elses prom. otherwise by extension you rickrolled yourself.

for instance if another school had online voting for requested songs to be played at their prom and you wrote some code to change your IP address and vote over and over again that would be a 9.5

It would have been way cooler if you had been the DJ and rick rolled the prom.

especially if you announced that you would be playing 'roll' by flo rida, and had it setup to launch into rick after the intro part of it.

I like how the OP tried to back out of asking how "awesome" he was by feigning irony. He's obviously too low-level a spellcaster for that one.

Like that time Gandalf showed up at the pool hall wearing Axe Body Spray, and when we told him it made him smell like the infected asswound on a dying ferret, he tried to play it off like, "Oh, yeah, heh, it's a joke, I wasn't really trying to get girls with this..."

And then he went home with a Hobbit.

Again.

Rick Roll is a failed link to something people just don't like.

A true rick roll is to play it when the "Star Spanked Banner" is going to be played before a baseball game, for example. Asking for a rick roll willingly is no rick roll at all.

Plus, as someone else said, you rick rolled yourself, because it was your prom.

That's sad. My school has a set of computers/TV things on the walls that constantly display stuff, like sports fixtures and stuff, and my mate who's really good with computers hacked the system and got them to play it lol.

Now that's how you Rick Roll!

doesn't sound like a rickroll.

now if the DJ announced that the next song was one thing then played the chorus of "Never Gonna Give You Up"... then I would call that a RickRoll.

so I rate that a 2.

because if you just requested it, to the majority of people it would be you just liked the song.

Now, a good prank during a dance? That would have to be spiking the punch with speed. Lots of speed. Just make sure you don't drink any and you've got a video camera ready.

Yes, you just rick roll'ed yourself! :p

How so? Perhaps I don't quite understand the phenomenon, but isn't it essential to the act of rickrolling that the person being rickrolled does not know it is about to happen? Isn't the intention that you trick them into hearing the song/seeing the video?

Q: What is Rick Roll, Rick Rolling, Rick Rolled?

A: (courtesy of Yahoo! Answers)

An internet prank or joke. Rick Roll, Rick Roll'd or Rick Rolling is an internet spam trick in which people post a link to a Rick Astley video on Youtube, but say the viewers of the video are being led to another video, usually proof of unconfirmed gaming news or trailers.
so some form of Bait-n-Switch is needed.

Also (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rick+rolled)

and from the everpopular wiki site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Astley)...

Rickroll internet phenomenon
Main articles: Rickroll and Never Gonna Give You Up
In 2007[6] Rick Astley became the subject of a viral Internet meme in which an estimated 25 million Internet users were tricked into watching the video for Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" by posting it under the name of other popular video titles.[7] The practice is now known as Rickrolling. The phenomenon became so popular that on April 1, 2008, YouTube pranked the Internet community by making every single video link on the front page a Rickroll.

so the only way Sdaeriji can rick roll himself is if (S)he mistyped the name of the video and without reading carefully, clicked on the "NGGYU" video by mistake thinking it was something else.
