I´m incredibly amazed by this news. I´m so amazed that, in fact, I´m not going to comment on it, but let you all read it and do it yourselves.

OMAHA, Neb. (May 9) - An Omaha man struggling to breathe used a steak knife to perform an at-home tracheotomy. Steve Wilder said he thought he was going to die when he awoke one night last week and couldn't breathe.

Wilder said he didn't call 911 because he didn't think help would arrive in time. So, the 55-year-old says, he got a steak knife from the kitchen and made a small hole in his throat, allowing air to gush in.

"It just blocked all the way and I just got up and I panicked," he told a local TV station, WOWT in Omaha. "Got a knife and located it and pushed in and blood went gush."

Wilder suffered from throat cancer and related breathing problems several years ago. About that time, he had an episode where he couldn't breathe because his air passages swelled shut. He said that's what happened this time around.

Doctors don't expect Wilder to suffer any adverse affects from the tracheotomy once it's healed.

I might try it on myself If i was able to do so given the circumstances... Kudos to the guy for not screwing it up and surviving :)

If i had the chance to help someone on the street however.. definately not.. maybe i should do an advance first aid course and learn it just in case.

He performeda self-tracheotomy, not a self-neutering. He could still have balls, assuming they didn't get blown off years earlier in some obsure war or spent years as a pet for an alien who had him neutered so he wouldn't have puppies.

I applaud his do-it-yourself attitude. That's what America needs. More people who would rather unclog their own toilets than call in a plumber. More people who would rather walk that city block than call someone to pick them up. I know toilets smell like what they are designed to carry and remove. I know walking takes more effort than sitting. But I still unclog my toilet when the load's to great for it to handle and I use my legs for walking because that's what they're there for. Do heart surgeons call someone to fix hearts for them? No. Do cultists call for help when they want to brainwash people? No. Did the US get some other country to bomb small Vietnamese villages for them? No. We need more useful people. Why do European governments want so bad to destroy poverty? So that the Europeans will become dependant on government aid and allow the government to control them. That's how Communism works. It enslaves people.
