So aye, Medvedev has now taken over as president of Russia. Have a news about it :

Dmitry Medvedev has promised to extend Russia's civil and economic freedoms after being sworn in as new president.

"Human rights and freedoms... are deemed of the highest value for our society," he said at a lavish inauguration ceremony in the Kremlin.

Mr Medvedev took over from Vladimir Putin, becoming Russia's third leader since the collapse of the USSR in 1991.

And let me be the first on NSG to say Preved, Medved!

What're your thoughts on the man? Who's really going to be running the show, him or Putin? Does anyone else get the meme?

Your use of the word 'change' is rather optimistic.

lets hope he will slash corruption, take Russia into the 21st century and finally kill the oligarchy that runs Russia :)

how he intends to do this is beyond me I suppose he will have to follow Putin for awhile yet to accumulate enough power to drastically alter the Russian way of doing things

I try not to think about Russia. Gives me the hibbie jibbies.

As for who´s gonna be ruling? Easy. Vladimir Putin. Is obvious that Medvedev is nothing but a Putin Puppet.

He is commendable though, if indeed he does extends civil right in Russia. About time.

I know, all of those poor former KGB and FSB members, not having their alotted position in power :( . It's good to see someone standing up for the intelligence agency.

I imagine Putin will slowly draw all the influence and power he can so that he could make himself dictator or something like that

Shouldn't there a question mark at the end of the topic title, instead of a exclamation point?

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I've been wondering whether Putin is the bad Harkonnen and Medvedev the good Harkonnen. But it's likely that Putin really is that evil and not just putting on a show to make Medvedev popular.
