No Sports Web Surfing for Spain's Defense Ministry
Spain's Defense Ministry has ordered its staff to stop browsing sports and entertainment Web sites while on duty, an official said Thursday.
The newspaper El Mundo said the restrictions stem from recent incidents in which computer systems overloaded and nearly crashed.
A ministry official said the order distributed this week affects staff at the ministry building as well as the army, navy and air force headquarters. The official spoke on condition of anonymity, in line with ministry rules.
The official said the order did not come directly from Carme Chacon, 37, who took over last week as Spain's first female defense minister.

MADRID - The Spanish Ministry of Defence has prohibited all military personnel from reading sports websites.
This is the story reported on Thursday by sports daily Marca.
According to Marca, the Ministry has cut off access to all sporting websites, claiming that the military computer network is "being saturated" by officers, soldiers and sailors reading the sports news.
Apparently the problem is particularly acute amongst Spanish military personnel based in Afghanistan and other overseas locations.
The prohibition is being blamed on Carme Chacon, the new socialist Minister of Defence.
Chacon, 37, is Spain's first ever female Minister of Defence, and recently raised eyebrows by making a surprise visit to the Spanish troops based in Afghanistan - despite being seven months pregnant.

Futbol is my passion. After hockey. Because they share similarites. Like offsides, low scores, nets, goaltenders. Forwards. No using hands (in hockey no passing, batting into net). Goalies can use hands. This is getting weird. Why am I getting carried away. I dunno. Go Barca!

We can play soccer. We beat out a lot of countries to the world cup. We didn't do so well there, but no biggie. Soccer isn't that popular in the US, but its popularity is growing. People are more interested in baseball, football, and basketball than soccer, so more talented athletes choose those sports.

The issue is that she has no military experience; then again, neither have the last two defense ministers. On the one side, she's a Socialist, but on the other some argue that she'll be easier to persuade by the military. Then again, there's nothing really to be persuasive about, 'psst... hey... so... err, can we have those cool new vehicles everyone else has?' 'Yea, don't worry, we have the € to spend.'

It's important in the context that she's the first female minister of defense in Spain, given that the military has been fed up already by Zapatero's policies of replacing male officers in the high command with female officers, and his retirement from Iraq at the time he did so [right after the Madrid metro bombings].

Yeah but you didn't even make it past the group stage. I found it funny that the US coach said that Australia was only there to make up the numbers, yet it was the US that was heading home first.
Saying you tied with Italy doesn’t count because the only reason they won was because they cheated during the game against Australia. Fucking bastards, they took a dive and the shit referee (who was sent home after the game by FIFA) gave a penalty they didn't deserve, you do know that many Italian teams practice diving, it has become a sad state of affairs that we allow those Latin wankers who cheat in almost every sport they compete in to get away with it so much.

We have a better defense (if they are focused), and in terms of midfield ...pretty much the same though it is debatable. In strikers we are laaaame... and you are a lot better than us there...and you probably have a better bench (substitute players).
But that was pretty the same as weakness and strong points in the last world cup and eurocup...it doesn't mean we can't win..though it will be hard this year.......
