Pigeons are little more than a reactionary, bourgeois construct so that the proletariat forget about the plight of the quail, a bird shot for hundreds of years by those which the revolution has deposed from their places in favour of the honest worker, comrade.

Eeh...
Lenin and Trotsky led the revolution in 1917, then there was an extremely bloody civil war from 1918-1921 in which Trotsky was, really, the main man over Lenin (mostly because Lenin was going mental after an assassination attempt and also neurosyphallis kicked in).
From 1921 until 1926-7, there was a bit of a punch-up within the Politburo (leady chaps) and Stalin came out best by playing the Left (Trotsky + co) against himself and the Right (Bucharin + co) before then destroying the Right and filling the Politburo with his mates.
And then it was all even more fucked until 1991.

I've been trying to "Collect Them All!"
At first, when the country was the "Most Serene Republic" of Tmutarakhan, I was answering the issues more or less how I felt, and was mostly a "Scandinavian Liberal Paradise", sometimes "Left-Leaning College State", "New York Times Democracy", "Inoffensive Centrist Social-Democrat" and for a while "Capitalizt". But now as the "Least Serene Republic", I have been mostly a "Father Knows Best State", sometimes "Corrupt Dictatorship", "Compulsory Consumerist State", "Iron-Fisted Consumerist", and currently "Corporate Police State". I was really aiming for "Psychotic Dictatorship", but even though I'm breeding genetically-engineered soldiers, have outlawed cheese and cars, and throw people in dungeons at every chance, I just can't seem to manage to get "Psychotic".
How many other labels are there that I haven't gotten to?

Heres mine:
Citizens are more concerned about voting for Big Brother contestants than politicians, a dictator has seized power and outlawed elections, the public are free to vote for whomever the government wants in office, and society and government have been organized according to a feudal hierarchy.
Funny.
BTW BJP is a "father knows best state" with a frightening economy, good civil rights and rare to non-existant political freedoms, and has been from almost day one.

The Alma Mater
10-05-2008, 08:51
"Is terrorism such a terrible thing? Really?" asks Dave Frederickson, avant garde journalist, discreetly sliding a pipe bomb under your desk. "These people are simply expressing their political opinion the best way they know how. I think we should legalise terrorism as a legitimate form of political commentary. It'll certainly get people interested, don't you think?"
This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.
Revived my nation... and got this. I like the new issues ;)
http://www.nationstates.net/the_alma_mater
Trying to model your nation using issues is actually a really long and boring process, even when using two issues a day. I tried to do this previously with Andaras Prime, and it's very hard to actually change your budget % in the NSEconomic meter. This is because you have to wait for the specific issues to come up. You can get your nation into either end of the spectrum pretty easily, that being psychotic or really free, but to get the specific ones in between like corporate state or left-wing college state can be pretty difficult.
I have answered any issues with my current nation.
