Iron Man goes Gold (and Titanium matrix), return planned.

King Arthur the Great

It's official. Iron Man did more than just kick the Iron Monger's ass this weekend. In the official tally, including sales from Thursday previews, Iron Man has amassed $102 million in the U.S.-Canada market. And the sequel is now in the works, along with planned Captain America and Thor movies. Coupled with Edward Norton showing up as the Incredible Hulk very, very soon, Marvel also took the time to announce another sweet cake:

An Avengers film. And it's slated for July 2011. Even if it's delayed, it's now on the table, and that means all-around happiness for every comic-book nerd that has ever picked up a brilliantly colored piece of art. Myself included.

Rick Astley is definitely the right pick for the sequel.

F*ck No. Downey Jr. is awesome. The fact that he fits the role perfectly (Stark suffered from similar problems) only makes the movie that much more believable. And the in-jokes to comics fans (Rhodes says "maybe next time" when looking at a spare suit) are so well used, it's awesome.

Comics Fans: See this movie. It washes out the bad aftertaste that Spiderman 3 left us with.

It's a decent movie. Why the obsession?

I'm glad that it appears to be a goodie. Never was a big spiderman fan. Preferred the Hulk, x-men and Nick Fury, Captain Marvel....Those were the first comics I really got into...Then there was all the 2000AD stuff, with the sexy weaponry....And proper robots and art, not like that anime stuff...Jesus I hate them big-eyeballed bastards...They don't even look human half the time, let alone japanese......

I need a walking stick to wave when ranting, I think.....and a nurse to wheel me off for evening medication...

scary...you just wrote the story of my childhood there.

As for 2000AD - oh please let someone who's actually read the damn comic do a Judge Dredd movie.
And a Strontium Dog.
And a Button Man.
And a Halo Jones.
Heck, even a Rogue Trooper movie would be appreciated.

I couldn't give a shit about Captain America or Thor. And I care even less about Avengers. The only decent superhero property in recent years has been the re-invented Batman franchise, anyway.

I'm hoping for good things from Watchmen, but not holding my breath. And, to be honest.... the stuff that might be worth watching (like a Sandman movie), are just never going to get made.

Did someone pass a law that says I have to go pay money to buy something that's been continuously jammed down my throat for the last week/month/year? I'm getting to the point where if it's got that much publicity, there must be something wrong with it. I used to say that I'll go see it/buy it/whatever, when all the crap dies down, but it never dies down! I can't help but feel that I'm being manipulated if and when I do decide to consume whatever the latest "thing" is.

I liked Iron Man quite a bit. Excellent acting on the part of Robert Downey Jr, good pacing and superb effects.

If I have to make one complaint...and I do...it would be that for a movie based on a comic book there was relatively little action compared to the rest of the story. Not that I'm necessarily asking for a mindless action flick, I just could've done with a little extra powered armor asskickery. What action scenes there were however were beautiful.

All said and done though it's a damn good movie, just not perfect.

I heard it was good from a real fan so I am looking foward to taking my kids this weekend.

Glad a sequel is in the works.

Dissapointed with last Spider Man- I thought it could have been much better with Venom playing a larger role.
the whole venom thing was resolved a little too quickly.

Waiting for new Batman.

And of course,Indiana Jones in a few weeks
