General Thein Sein of Burma has just recently paid a visit to HM the King
of Thailand. A news website in Burma has a report on this:
Concerning democratization process, the Thai King said the examples
of some western powers stood witness to the fact that too much
democracy was not good. So much talk and less work was not either.
The western big nations accused Thailand of being weak in exercising
democracy. The democracy being practised by Thailand was better
than the one they were practising.

Hmmm.....
Thai democracy better than Europe's and N America's ??
A nation with 75 year old democracy
23 military coups or coup attempts
17 constitutions
and lese majeste which could land anyone criticizing the king in jail for 15 years???

In other news, Mr.Bush said that the US have a better human rights record than any other country; Mr.Brown said that the UK has the correct amount of rain; Mr.Berlusconi said that his football team is still the best team around; and Mr.Sarkozy remembered anyone that France has got the real grandeur stuff.

Well, to be fair, for the Thai King, Thai Democracy is better. Now for the rest of the population....

There's no such thing as a perfect democracy that fits all nations. Especially not when it comes to the one being advertised by certain pompous, hypocritical, holier than thou quarters of the Western world.
Lets see what Europe's democracy has had hmm? One subversion of power, and about 7 years of war with one of the biggest global death tolls in any single war to date. Oh, and industrialized murder, mustn't forget.
Lets see what American democracy has had. Hmmm, slavery, inequal "equality", death marches, extortion of foreign nations by force of arms, manifest destiny, concentration camps, legalized torture, oh my.
All part and parcel of democracy it seems.

The current one has got good reason to be loved by the Thai people, considering the number of personal projects he put up to develop their agriculture and lives. He didn't have to, but he did it anyway. That goes a long way in Thai memories.

legalized torture
To be fair, torture is still technically illegal here. Just Bush tends to ignore the law.

Were those situations you described a consequence of democracy, or merely things that have happened in democratic states? You could sit all day and point out random trivia without any causation. Ever noticed that both world wars were largely fought by northern hemisphere countries? Must mean there's something wrong with the northern hemisphere.

Many of those elements were enabled by a democratic government which had people motivated by self interests and lack of regard for their fellow humanity.

Therefore, by your logic of course, Japan and America win by default...

There are plenty of releases for Japanese and American hardware. Most of it is crap. Hardware is useless without software. So Japan and America are dependent on Canada's win. Without Canada, and it's Bioware, Japan and America would fail.

Well, here is a statement that I am sure most of my fellow nations on this forum will agree with.
Former President Fidel Castro of Cuba has been quoted as saying Cuba is the most democratic nation in the world. Lol.

I am not saying that Western democracy is 100% pure and true and perfect.
But I believe that Thai democracy is certainly NOT better than what you guys
have in Europe or America.
Trust me.
Consider the lese majeste laws. Haha.

Compared to what America and Europe used to trumpet as part of their democracy, lese majeste laws are hardly worth even paying any attention to.

Other forms of government don't eliminate self interest or a lack of humanity. Once again, it sounds like you are blaming the political system for something which has nothing to do with the political system.

What do the things that countries used to do have to do with what Thailand is doing now?

"Democracy" just means "people rule". It doesn't mean that there must be elections every number of years or so.
I wouldn't say whose democracy is better, just that there is no one standard model to measure it against.

I like BioWare, but they tend to be somewhat formulaic in their games. I mean, some parts of KotOR were really just a rehash of NWN (Bastila = Aribeth).
So I see your BioWare and raise you one Obsidian (the spiritual successor to Black Isle with a lot of their people).

And how does this not tie into the fallacy of "my democracy is better than your democracy" that the OP is using?

Obsidian, I don't know any of their games though. And I'll agree with your comment about rehashes. NWN's first arc was terribly predictable though.
