Mistakes

Mistakes, we all make them, it's just human nature, we're fallible. Anyways, How do you handle a mistake? As for me, I try to make up for them, and I also try to not repeat the mistakes too many times, however I am weird when it comes to mistakes. Lets say I make a mistake, and it affects one of the few people I actually care about, I can make up for it, and apologize and all of that crap, and yet even after it's all said and done I'm still upset about it. Mainly because I think the more mistakes I make, the less people will actually love and care about me. Yes I am striving for perfection with my weird way of thinking!

So, how do you guys handle mistakes?

Speak for yourself mortal.

Though, I understand what you are saying.

If I were to make a mistake, I would first attempt to repair any damage I caused and then try my hardest not to make the same mistake again. I don't know if that would absolve the guilt(assuming I felt some to begin with) regarding the mistake however.

It depends. If I knowingly made the mistake and I´m called on it, I tend to apologize. If I made the mistake on account of someone else´s stupidity, I get extremely vexed.

I don't dwell on my mistakes. I learn from them, and move on. Mistakes are for the imperfect, and I'm darn proud of being imperfect! :D

I usually kill someone and blame the mistake on them.

How is that your mistake?

Why?
I really don't know. Perfectionism just annoys me, I truly don't know why. Maybe it's because it's impossible, and I'm just justifying it subconciously. Maybe it's because it's in my genes. *Checks pants, notices they're not JEANS :p*
But I LIKE being imperfect, and I'm usually proud of things I like and are going well. BUT, why do you like perfection?

How is that your mistake?

If I do something I wasn´t supposed to on account of not being told my entire instructions (it has happened between me and my boss), of course it´s vexing. It is not my direct fault that something came out wrong if I wasn´t told everything I needed to know before performing.

You can only be expected to act on the information you have. Your mistake is transfered to the person who gave you the misinformation (or whoever gave them the misinformation) because they started the chain reaction of mistakes to come. Unless you have reason to believe the information was invalid, then you made no mistake.

You assume too much. I dislike perfection because it is a logical paradox, since the pursuit of perfection is seen as a flaw/leads one to have flaws. Then again, that depends on how one defines "flaw", I prefer not to use such black and white terminology.

I am perfect. I just pretend not to be so as not to alienate others.

It really depends on the type of mistake. Some have much larger consequences then others. So how I handle them depend on type of mistake. However, for all them I try to learn from then and not do it again

I try and repair any damage caused by it.

I try to salvage some good from it, ie see if I can learn anything from it or if it benefited anyone at all, and I try and make sure I don't make thr same mistake again.

But I try not to guilt myself. One can get too caught up in these sorts of things. Yes, reflection on mistakes is useful and necessary, but you don't need to dwell on them or beat yourself up about them. Move on.

Well, my most recent notable mistake was to get this sunburn because I was too afraid to ask someone to help me put sunscreen on my back where I couldn't reach. So now it hurts and I just have to live with it.

I have made very few real mistakes. When I do make a "mistake" and realize it, I apologize to whoever and try to repair it if possible.

The few real mistakes I made, though, I still regret doing them, because they cannot be repaired, only forgotten. (And don't start with that "I regret nothing so you shouldn't" bullcrap).

"Mistakes" and "flaws" are subjective value judgments, and consequently flawlessness/perfection is a non-sensical concept, because it is defined as a universal/objective concept opposed to a subjective one.

So mistakes are really what you think you are - but usually just simple everyday situations with unintended consequences, which, when negative, you may have to make amends for. Or you could just move on and not dwell on it.

your boss made a mistake?
put him/her on the torture rack!
or at least weigh them on a set of scales with a duck to see if they're a witch.
To OP, if i make a mistake i usually try to make up for it.
But it really depends what sort of mistake it is, some of the smaller stuff doesn't really matter to me.
