RP help

I've decided to actually bother in RPing on NSG. But I'd like some help from some people who actually know what there doing.
I need some advice on what stuff to buy from StoreFronts (Looking to mass buy Fighters, Bombers, Tanks and Warships.

I also need some help deciding on a realistic military size for my nations current population (Around 642mil last time I checked) my nation uses legions so i need to decided on the number of soldiers per legion, I would of said around 18,000 but considering my nations population its likely that I would be using more than a million troops so that'd just be silly.

Anyone interested in doing some RP with me as well? Nothing major though to start of with.

It all depends on what exactly you plan on doing. A constantly at war nation would have a large army. A constantly at war with itself nation (Like mine :p) would have a large police force. If you're going to be activly participating in wars, with your pop I'd say 400,000-800,000 (Combined navy, army, air force, everything)

And I'd be interested in RPing with you.

Though I'm not sure this is the right forum for this thread, it might be.

Well I plan on massively militarizing my nation, With plenty of wars to expand the "Imperium". I have intentions of warring to seize strategic locations and important/valuable resources not to mention general expansion.

Excellent, I would be quiet interested in RPing with you. As for the right forum ... This is just a general planning/debate thread rather than OOC planning.

Depends. Do you plan to RP in the International Incidents Forums, or in the Nationstates Forums?

I ask because the two have totally different styles of RPing.

First, do not touch storefronts, nobody is going to pay heed to that anyway. In any of the forums.

Second, remember that the mobilization of any army superior to one million men is actually a nightmare.

CM is right about realistic numbers, but please remember about logistic and administrative military personnel.

However, if you don't want to enlarge the list of I.G.N.O.R.E cannon casualties, avoid thoughts of pimping your army with "massive militarization". Even with massive militarization, your total military personnel couldn't be above of 4 millions.

Theres a difference? ...
Well I thought that using Storefronts makes RP easier, considering then you have statistics of your equipment etc.

Not really, most people ignore storefronts. Even statistics. Try to write a good story with nice descriptions and you will have more success than sticking to buying products.

Buy from me! It does make RP easier. Aelosia is partially right. If you make a good story with nice descriptions, you'll have more sucess then just buying products. COMBINE the two however...

Ok, but tell me how do people decide who wins battles and things? It would be all to easy for a nation to mass RP a superior trained/mobilized force etc or that the person with the higher troop numbers of things like tanks win...

Well I will RP buying stuff from you then. Like I said I need a mass militarization, I plan on mass buying Tanks (with ammunition and equipment, Fighters(With ammunition & equipment), Bombers (With ammunition & equipment), Infantry equipment, Artillery (With ammunition) and Nuclear weapons/Chemical Missiles.

I'm stockpiling weapons as you can see :p

Everyone has tanks. Everyone has planes. Everyone has nukes, even. Usually the only way to secure a win is to RP all the way through, finding allies and such. Using tactics, diplomacy and other things.

If you try to win a war through numbers, you'll get nuked, and that is it. Even relatively small countries can pull off the "I nuke you with 200 warheads" trick.

Usually you agree that "I am going to lose, but the fight will be fierce" or viceversa beforehand. The idea is to write a nice story, not to own people just playing the game.

Unless you're really in to arming and equipping your troops, use package deals from good storefronts to determine your forces. It saves a lot of time, especially if military action isn't going to be a major component of your RPing (and even if it is, a good war RP won't focus on technical stuff...that's just plain boring).

For reference, we've got a good 32 million troops for our population of 6+ billion. Realistically, I've never had more than between 1 and 3 million involved in any campaign.

It was a joke. I meant CM has no missles. We DO have many missile defense systems, but we don't sell them to the peons around us. :)
