Have most of your threads been flops?

Have they fallen (below) the 100 post mark? Mine have 99% of the time. This one will too, as will the one I will make in an hour.

Most of mine have to. I just enjoy them as long as people post. It not the quantity, it's the quality.

I tend to avoid starting threads, because I'm thoroughly convinced they will be flops, but my "religion thread" and the "silverware stealing" thread were both pretty successful, back in the day of 2005-2006.

I don't start any. Becuase my opinions aren't controversial enough, and the few topics where I think I know enough to put together a suitably informed argument rather than an ad-hoc reckon (political philosophy, some random early modern history topics, and stuff on transgender rights) probably wouldn't interest enough people for a big thread as they're a bit too heavy. I prefer to make occasional irrelevant sarcastic comments on other peoples threads rather than post something and have my beliefs torn apart by far more intelligent people :)

Never made a thread, and don't plan to.

Maybe I just have a fear of rejection.

I've made threads with my old nation (seriously, if you can't tell who my old nation was, you're either new or an idiot) but either they weren't very controversial or were somewhat bloggish.

3/5, i would say, is a safe bet. Depends on how much i humiliate myself in the process.

It's kind of random. I think a lot depends on time of posting, title, etc.

I have found that all of my "best" threads, if quantity is the judging factor, were fairly stupid. The longest was the NSG Awards Thread (the Nishgies) which was much like the Grammys in number and meaninglessness of awards. Another was titled "Which state could go?," and was about, literally, which of the fifty states the U.S. could afford to lose.

There have been good short threads, though. The one about what a neoconservative is never went over the 100 post mark, but I got at least two posts that (gasp!) intelligently answered my question.

7 of 46 of mine had 100+ replies.

However, I don't think <100 is a flop. Less than 3 pages, maybe. 100 posts is about 8 pages - some discussions just aren't going to go 8 pages. That doesn't make them unworthy of discussion, though.

I've created very few threads for someone with my postcount, but most have struggled to make it past one page. I sometimes get lucky and get the odd two-page thread, but that's it. God knows the last time I created a thread, though.

I've only made a few threads in general. Most of my threads/posts are in II, and yes most of them are flops. In fact, I made one today that was a major flop and only got three replies.

Search found 100 that I made, out of those about 3/10 had more than a hundred posts, about 1 in 10 had more than 200, I found about 5 with more than 300 posts and 1 with more than 500. I am really sure that the search didn't find every thread I started, and I know that they have gotten a better response as I've gotten a higher post count. My first round of threads did good to get 20 posts.

I think most of mine have been flops. *goes and counts* 15 out of 100 have broken the 100 post mark. Not too bad I guess (considering that most are void of content).

That said, on the other forum I actually post on with any regularity, my rate is much better. That is probably because I posted a mega controversial thread which did not flame or troll. That was fun.

yeh, my longest thread (apart from a deliberately provocative, borderline trolling thread) was 10 pages. a quick search shows that all others over 100 posts are ones i didn't actually start but stole the OP. my actual longest thread does not appear in a search cuz the OP was stolen, by Celtlund i believe.most of my other threads barely broke a page in length.

... and with "most of mine" certainly you're referring to the one single thread you made, yes?
