Favorite Serial Killers?

So, I just watched a program on Ted Kaczynski AKA The Unabomber, and that just made me think of all the Serial Killers throughout history. What are some of y'alls favorite Serial Killers?

For me, It would have to be Zodiac. I mean this was a man who taunted the newspaper and police, he played with fire by keeping in communication with them while killing them, and he never got caught! I think he sent out four puzzle but only one of them was solved. He may have been a murdering mad man, but he was a genius!

So, what is your favorite Serial Killer?

Oh, and my favorite is Harry Powers. He's the guy that Harry Powell, the crazy preacher man from Night of the Hunter was based off of. Or maybe Harry Powers was based off of Harry Powell, I don't remember names well.

Fred West... insofar as one can have a "favourite" serial killer.

So graphic that his a lot of his crimes weren't even damned revealed to the jury that convicted him.

But he was caught because he joked to some coppers to "look under the patio for the bodies". They did just that, and found a lot. Even several of his own daughters that he killed, although he did a lot to them before he died.

His house was bulldozed flat.

Richard Kuklinski, aka The Iceman.

I read his authorised biography, the one where he actually had a say on what went in. I think he was a great man who got shaped into what he became at a young age.

Could you call Ed Gein a serial killer?

Nope, he was a grave robber who was charged with killing one person, and who killed at most 2.

How, exactly, does one have a "favorite" serial killer? I mean, there is one who you could find particularlly interesting, but "favorite" implies some level of attatchment. And if you have attatchment to a serial killer, youre a sick fuck.:p

ps- Ted Bundy.

Was she the one who bathed in young girls' blood?

Yep.

All though, calling her a serial killer isnt really accurate. She was more a mass murderer (there is a difference). She wasnt methodical and her only criteria was that they be young women.

I was going to say the zodiac killer also, but I think serial killers are more interesting when they're fictional, partly because they're usually creepier than their real life counterparts. For example all the movie characters based on Ed Gein are scarier than the actual guy.

"I would make sure you were dead. Then I would remove your teeth, cut off your fingertips so you could not be identified. And they would call me the Overkill Killer."

My 'favorite' would be Jack the Ripper, most likely because it was so long ago and there are so many different theories as to who it could have been.

But to be honest, I can't really have a favorite, just the one who I find to be the most interesting, favorite would imply that you almost liked them..... not really something you want to do with a serial killer.

The Zodiac, partly because he never got caught, despite sending the paper and the police notes in his own writing, taunting them. Also, the local connection.

Following the Zodiac would be Elizabeth Bathory. Really fucking twisted, and high kill count.

Jack and Zodiac were really cool, but there's only one reason they were never caught: they didn't have to beat our forensics system. all the taunting, the fingerprint left by Zodiac, Jack probably not hiding his handwriting (if the actual killer was writing the letters), etc. Also, the Zodiac killer was more than likely identified, but the guy died about a month before that happened.
Although I have to give much recognition to Albert Fish, HH Holmes, Gary Hydnick (philadelphia's own), and the two mentioned above, my favorite is Richard Ramirez aka "The Night Stalker". a sloppy drugged up satan worshiper who cruised around listening to AC/DC's album Highway to Hell before killing and still avoided detection for a long time even though he was so damn sloppy.

Handwriting experts on the case found that the writing was not one particular style. in other words, he mixed and matched handwriting forms (how q's are made, where the t is crossed, etc.) so that he could do that. I think that might still beat even today's system.

I think the term "favorite" is what people take offense to. As I said, you could have asked "Who do you think is the most interesting serial killer?" and no one would have a right to whine.

being fascinated by evil is a part of having an imagination. we are often attracted to stories of people who do things that we would never consider doing in real life. even when the stories horrify us.

favorite is the word for those people and their stories.

I didn't ask your opinion, and nobody appointed you an expert on serial killing. In terms of victims having a pattern, hers arguably had more of a pattern than the Zodiac's, in that they were all virgin girls (whether they were all virgins is, of course, impossible to ascertain, but it was Bathory's ideal target).
