Have you ever gotten one? What do you do for them?
Last night I drank too much on not enough food, and so now I feel pretty crappy.
Sleep, drink water, eat salty foods, and let your liver do its work.

Can't sleep, unfortunately, I have to go to class.

A rarely get hangovers- well the classic splitting headache hangovers.
Pretty the only time I get a hangover is when I drink enough to black out. Which has only happened thrice! (the last time was months and months ago...)
Basically just drink some water and rest for a while. A hot shower can also help!

Conversely, if you drink water with the alcohol, you won't get one to start with.
Water is your friend.
Haha I remember the first hangover of my life. Me and a friend downed an entire bottle of wine, I was 14. I woke up the next morning, it took me a half hour to get from my room to the kitchen. I kept stopping for a break with every few steps.
Good times.

Take a multivitamin. Pound a water. Have something light to eat (eggs, bagle) or something creamy (New England Clam Chowder is a personal favorite). Keep drinking water. Hit the gym if you think you can at all handle it (oxygen will help you feel better, exercise gets more oxygen to your body faster)
You need to rehydrate, but be careful of things like powerade and gatorade...those are designed for when your body chemistry is normal, which it isn't when you are hung over.

Just barf, barf. That always helps.
If you are able to keep stuff down, Motrin,Tylenol, and water. Then eat some crackers.
If you can't keep anything down and you MUST go to class..I advise carrying around quite a few plastic bags. And giving yourself quite a bit of time to get there.

Before I start drinking, I make sure to have a good meal of carbohydrates. After I return home after a night of drinking, before I go to bead, I like to drink plenty of water. Whenever I wake up, I tend to drink more water and have some sandwiches. My hangover consists mainly to light sensitivity, parched throat, and grogginess. Of course, after doing all of this, including the prep work prior to drinking, it is curbed drastically and takes a short amount of time to recover.

eating a banana before bed usually helps too, or (again) the magic of the multivitamin.
A donut usually does the trick for me. Or some greasy homefries.

Maybe you should cut down on your drinking in the future?
My miracle cure is Lucozade. Failing that a few tangerines seem to help me.

Hangovers.
80% of a hang over is dehydration. before you sleep drink 16 oz of water it is also a good trick to eat burnt toast(carbon filters the alcohol out of your system).
while sleeping try to sleep as long as possible the alcohol breaks down into sugar which tends to disrupt sleep a few hours down the road. so if you stay up past the tired part to finish one thing real quick you likely will have a hard time sleeping all night.
when you wake up when your still hung over take some aspirin and drink 16 more oz of water. If need be drink an energy drink to get you going, a multi vitamin can also help. Have a light breakfast. If after all this your still hung over and absolutely need to feel good to do what you go to do for the day. Have a hair of the dog.
Bloody Marys are good for this as the spice and vitamins present help the hang over. however having to have one drink when you wake up to get over drinking points to possible issues with problem drinking I suggest you slow down.

Salty foods are good, so are electrolyte drinks like Powerade or Gatorade.
The best way to avoid a hangover is to drink heaps of water before you go to sleep.

You can get a bad hangover from not drinking all that much if you went to bed in a bit of a pissed off mood, just as I've survived drinking the equivalent of about 15 pints without a hangover at all (although I was pissed for the morning of the next day too, to be fair).
Hydration is the key. 2 glasses of water before bed and another after you pee in the middle of the night. In the morning, eggs, toast and orange juice. Vitamin C is much needed if you drink more than a few times a week. Continue to hydrate throughout the morning and everything will be alright. I've never met a hangover that would hinder me from doing something constructive the next day.
Never go hair of the dog. This is a bad idea and will only delay the inevitable hangover further into your day. Also dont get in the habit of taking pain relievers. They make your already hard working liver work even harder, which can cause problems long term if you're not careful.

Eat a dill pickle (confusing the stomach) then follow up with a nice fat joint (further confusing the stomach, while distracting the brain at the same time) Then, go back to bed...
Have you ever had one? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah. Just drink a pint or two of water before you slough off to bed. And take an alka-seltzer in the morning to settle your stomach. :)
These days I don't remember what it's like to not wake up without a hangover. I've never been one to get heavy hangovers, though, so they never bother me too much. Usually I'm just thirsty with a mild headache and occasionally feeling a bit nauseous, but only after particularly heavy nights. Or a bad takeaway.
Never experienced a hangover myself (no matter how many times I been drunk.. lucky me) but several of my less fortunate freinds swear that greasy foods actually help settle your stomach.

While you're sitting there feeling like hell, figure out how much time you're wasting and how much time you will waste in future hangovers. Then stop drinking so much.

I haven't gotten one. Just drink water or something while you're drinking. Powerade really helps shots of vodka go down also.

You know, I don't actually drink that much. If I did, I'd already know quite well what to do for hangovers, and so wouldn't need to start this thread.
Thanks to those of you who gave helpful tips.

The pickle trick helps to keep it down (cheese is also good in combination with the pickles) but doesn't help with the actual hangover. Just keep drinking water before and after drinking.
Also as this guy said, partaking of some 'therapeutic' marijuana is usually helpful. Just be careful, it tends to inhibit your vomit reflex so you could get alcohol poisoning.

I've puked from alcohol twice. Both times I was doing what I knew was stupid (drinking when I had hardly eaten anything). One was last year, the other was this year. It's an experience I don't wish to repeat.

I've always found that having beans on toast for breakfast the next day is good, along with something like orange squash or juice.
I tend not to have a fry-up or anything, as that takes too long to make and if I'm feeling particularly rotten, then I don't want to do anything that takes too long.
But drinking water before going to bed is always a good idea. Recently, when ever I've been drinking at least one pint of water before I go to bed. It does mean that I need an almightly piss the next morning, but I tend not to have a hangover, so that's a brilliant trade off.

Yes, an almighty piss is certainly preferable to a hangover. An enormous piss even feels very satisfying when you finish urinating, it's such a sense of relief.
I usually get pissed on a friday night and then just lay in bed and play the 360 or something until I feel better.

Ahh, I can't really watch TV or even look at a screen for very long when hungover. My usual tactic is just to drink water and take a big nap, but that wasn't an option last time because of class.

Easiest way to prevent is eat and drink a lot more water before and while you drink.
Failing that, go to Seth Rogen in Knocked Up for the answer: "Weed cures everything. Just get up and smoke some weed."

Usually I just get water and then sleep until it goes away. In this emergency situation, however, I took some headache pills, drinking a ton of water while doing so, and then went to class (I left my sunglasses on in class, which I suppose made it obvious what was going on).
Conversely, if you drink water with the alcohol, you won't get one to start with.
