In Ukraine a doll of Hitler is planned to hit the stores soon. With over 3 million to be produced, and their sale expected to be large.

Guess this is yet another chapter of Eastern European nations that suffered under Stalinist/USSR occupation to view history through tinted glasses. Seems to be quite a revival lately of celebrating those who fought against Bolshevism as national heroes. Such as Latvia having parades in commeration to the Latvian SS every march 16th, Estonia building a memorial in commeration to the SS, etc.. etc..

Can't say I'm not amused though. The amusement disappears pretty fast though at the thought of nationalist parents buying their children this doll much as patriotic US parents might deign to buy their kid a GI Joe.

Not amused either. But if there´s a market for former dictator dolls, can I suggest an Imelda Marcos doll along with a Slobodan Milosevic and Fidel Castro dolls?

I think I need to own this doll.

Not because I support Hitler or anything (talk about supporting a losing side! That be like being a Bonapartiste, lol) but because, who owns a freakin' Hitler Action Figure. the novelty is terrific (ridiculous, yes, but I also own Star Wars beany-babies).

Now I just need to cruise over to Wal-mart (where I happen to work....) and pick up some of the BNible Action Figures that I heard they were going to release. :D

Here's a review on amazon.

This doll is a wonderful reproduction of Ol' Grumps himself, Adolf Hitler. Mr. Hitler, the doll, comes dressed in his usual Hitler garb, complete with over-starched collars and a variety of medals awarded for mass murder. Hitler also comes with a Nazi coat, Nazi hat, Nazi patch and an alternate and even angrier head! This doll is perfect for propping behind a tiny podium and shouting in German from behind a curtain (just read from a German dictionary, your audience will never know the difference!) while simultaneously horrifying your grandparents. Sometimes I'll bring the Hitler doll to mass just to keep my kids quiet and entertained with something. People often stare, jaw-dropped, in complete awe of the doll's stunningly accurate hairline and bitter scowl. The only complaint is that his angry, shouting face might set a bad example for children. I recommend popping off the head and replacing it with the head of Dr. Venkman from Ghostbusters to allow Hitler a more humorous and mischievous demeanor. C'mon, Hitler, you old fuddy duddy; the sun's out! Get out of the Bitter Barn and come play in the hay!

I wonder if we have been had. Look here:
http://www.wps.ru/en/services/foreign/ukraine/press.html

This seems to be a list of print media in Ukraine, I don't know if it's comprehensive, but it lists even local press.

There is no "Zerkalo tizhden'".

Furthermore, "zerkalo" means "mirror" and "tizhden" means "week", but "zerkalo tizhden" means "mirror week", it's ungrammatical. It should be "Zerkalo tizhdnia" like in the title of existing publication "Visti tizhdnia" (News of the week).
What speaks against this theory is that the Ukrainian news agency Unian is also reporting this, citing DPA:
http://www.unian.net/eng/news/news-247645.html
They should know instantly if it's true or not. But maybe they are a part of it? Why other Ukrainian agencies:
http://www.ukranews.com/eng/
http://www.interfax.com.ua/en/
http://www.ukrinform.com/eng/
did not pick it up? They should be all over it!

I call bollocks.

edit: Is that this (http://www.pzg.biz/figure_hitler.htm) "Ukrainian" action figure?

I think that Germany invaded Poland first because the devious French infiltrated Germany in August '39 and sabotaged the roadsigns, making "Frankreich" point east.

Heh. That's what action figures are for.

I asked for one of those AWESOME talking GI Joes (the one where you squeeze his stomach and he opens his mouth and yells heroic phrases) for my birthday, and my brother's favorite game from then on was 'come into sister's room and beat GI Joe with a yardstick'.

(AHEM)

Yes. I might consider buying such a thing if it ever came out, it sounds hilariously awful...

Cybach,
This is frigging insane
I could expect the romanians to make pro-nazi dolls, because they cry alot about stalin, and forget that Hitler was gonna crispy bake them for being part Turk, but UKRAINE?

I think good old Ukraine is SERIOUSLY forgetting how crap their economy was before and indeed after soviet control - at least the USSR kept jobs and currency moving

making hitler dolls makes them look mentally off

Hitler dolls would just be expensive firewood IMO

tell me when they make Heydrich dolls, i want one
