The Japanese version´s way better. Watch the video, it´s gorgeous. As for the English version of that song, I don´t like it too much. The lyrics changed too much because the Japanese song had been written before KH2 came out and Utada said that the English song was to pair with the game.

If you listen to both songs, the voice is absolutely the same in tone and pitch. The only difference there is, at least for you, is that you don´t understand the Japanese one whereas you do understand the English version. Understandable, but still not a reason enough to write off the Japanese version.

The voices are different, not as in a different person, but the tonality is slightly different, probably because of differences in language. Most people wouldn't notice it or if they did they wouldn't care, but I used to be a band kid so I listen for stuff like that and it bugs me.

There is too! Between Shinji and Unit 1 because Unit 1 absorbed Shinji's mother. Oedipus complex taken way too far.
