I apologize in advance, but HOLY BALLS I hate that song. Just the stupidest set of lyrics in recent pop music history. Compared to this, Aqua's "Barbie Girl" is a lyrical gem. Insipid chorus, ass-tastic whiny vocals, and a lyric that sounds like it was written by a stoned 12-year-old.

The Japanese version´s way better. Watch the video, it´s gorgeous. As for the English version of that song, I don´t like it too much. The lyrics changed too much because the Japanese song had been written before KH2 came out and Utada said that the English song was to pair with the game.

Yes, well, I don't speak Japanese so I'll settle for the English version. I also enjoy the English version of the KH2 theme, Sanctuary.

Also, if you want an anime with kick-ass music, watch Black Heaven. The hook for it is "Rock hard save the space." He rocks so hard he literally blows shit up. Good music, kind of slow plot, though, as it's in a more traditional style.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the classic badger badger badger (http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com/), it's etched deeply into my mind after a friend insisted on playing that for over an hour back when it was hip.

There´s a little thing you might´ve heard of called subtitles. Also, translated lyrics exist, for those who do not speak a certain language. My knowledge of Japanese is basic at best, that doesn´t however, stop me from appreciating a good song when I hear one. Think about that.

I have a lot of anime music that is not in English, and I do appreciate it. But I actually like the English voice for the KH songs better. The Japanese voice is just a bit shrill...

Actually one of my favorite anime songs is the remix of Nano Desu, Hanyuu's character song from Higurashi no naku koro ni (kai), first because it's good music, second because it's so adorable I'm sure my head will explode someday spontaneously, and lastly because I love everything that has to do with Higurashi because Higurashi is frigging awesome.

It´s funny that you say that because in English and in Japanese the song is interpreted by the same artist, Utada Hikaru. If you listen to both songs, the voice is absolutely the same in tone and pitch. The only difference there is, at least for you, is that you don´t understand the Japanese one whereas you do understand the English version. Understandable, but still not a reason enough to write off the Japanese version.

Of course, since you plead insanity I can let it half pass for now.;)

Utada Hikaru also interprets the Japanese and English versions of ¨Simple and Clean¨, for KH1. It´s just that in Japanese it´s called Hikari. This one was also written before the English version. Both songs differ in theme.

Lucky Star. I also like the Motteke! Sailor Fuku song. It´s kinda goofy. I thought the anime was cute, not one of the best though but hey, neither is Shin-chan and I absolutely love it.

The voices are different, not as in a different person, but the tonality is slightly different, probably because of differences in language. Most people wouldn't notice it or if they did they wouldn't care, but I used to be a band kid so I listen for stuff like that and it bugs me.

Kind of like how in every Caramelldansen video they're just slightly off the beat...bugs the crap out of me.

Of course, since you plead insanity I can let it half pass for now.;)

I left my sanity at the door, where it belongs, like I was told to.

Eh, tonality and all that aside, I figure, it's the same music, and I get more out of it when it's in English, so I might as well listen to the English version.

Lucky Star. I also like the Motteke! Sailor Fuku song. It´s kinda goofy. I thought the anime was cute, not one of the best though but hey, neither is Shin-chan and I absolutely love it.

Shin-chan is frigging hilarious, but I watch the English version (which is hilarious because they don't even try to translate it). My personal favorite is the Deflowerer: "I'll protect your honor! And your hymen!"

As for Lucky Star, five minutes about food. That's all I have to say about that.

Also, did I mention Higurashi? It's like Lucky Star, except with blood and death and violence.

Yes, but Eva makes my head hurt. There should never be sexual tension between a boy and a giant robot. That's just fucking weird.

On that note, Gurren Lagann (also by gainax) is fucking epic as hell. Instead of making your head explode because you don't know why everyone just turned into robot menstruation, they make your head explode because the main character just threw a galaxy at someone because his mecha is that big.

I've not yet seen the last two episodes of Gurren Lagann, but I hear it gets even more epic than I can possibly imagine. I wait in anticipation.

There's no sexual tension between a boy and a giant robot. There's sexual tension between a boy and someone fourteen years older. There's sexual tension between a boy and a creepy emotionless girl who is a clone of said boy's dead mother. There's sexual tension between a boy and another boy who is a nigh-omnipotent, immortal being from beyond space and time. There's sexual tension between a boy and the most awesome character from anything ever. But no sexual tension between a boy and a giant robot.

There is too! Between Shinji and Unit 1 because Unit 1 absorbed Shinji's mother. Oedipus complex taken way too far. The whole thing when he gets absorbed into it and whatnot...For the record, my roommates who are way bigger nerds than I am and are actually officers of the local anime club agree. "I'd rather rip my heart right out of my ribcage with my bare hands and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it until I die...than spend...one more minute.....with you." [/obscure song reference]

Well I heard that you were leavin'
Gonna leave me far behind
Cause you found a brand new lover
You decided that I'm not your kind

So I pulled your name out of my Rolodex
And I tore all your pictures in two
And I burned down the malt shop where we used to go
Just because it reminds me of you

That's right, you ain't gonna see me cryin'
I'm glad you found somebody new
Cause I'd rather spend eternity eating shards of broken glass
Than spend one more minute with you

I guess I might seem kinda bitter
You've got me feelin' down in the dumps
Cause I'm stranded all alone at the gas station of love
And I have to use the self-service pump! [SPECTACULAR masturbation reference, ftw]

So honey let me help you with that suitcase
You ain't gonna break this heart in two
Cause I'd rather get a hundred thousand paper cuts on my face
Than spend one more minute with you

[BRIDGE!]

I'd rather rip out my intestines with a fork
Than watch you going out with other men
I'd rather slam all my fingers in a door
Again and again and again and again and again
(spoken: aw can't'cha see what I'm tryin'a say darlin'?)

I'd rather have my blood sucked out by leeches
Shove an ice-pick under a toenail or two
I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with my tongue
Than spend one more minute with you

Yes, I'd rather jump naked on a huge pile of thumbtacks
Or stick my nostrils together with Crazy Glue
I'd rather dive into a swimming pool filled with double-edged razor blades
Than spend one more minute with you...

I'd rather rip my heart right out of my ribcage with my bare hands and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it until I die...
...than spend one more minute...
...with you.

I know you have to take this on faith, but I did NOT look those lyrics up. I've had it memorized since at least age 16 (and I'm 37, how sad is that?). It did take a little memory-jogging and a couple of "no, that's not it"s but there it is. Now, if I could only find my damned car keys....

The best and perhaps also catchiest mentioned so far.:D

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the classic badger badger badger (http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com/), it's etched deeply into my mind after a friend insisted on playing that for over an hour back when it was hip.

The worst song to ever have gotten stuck in my head was Mister Mister (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-G_GsejeI_4) by Wonderland. For a while it was incredibly hard to suppress the urge to sing it and give people the wrong idea.

I forgot about Badger (muuuushrooooom!)

Glad you agree on Nick Lowe -- it has a sentimental place in my musical pantheon as the first song to ever get stuck in my head from the radio as opposed to the parents' record collection.

Hair is gold and her eyes areblue
I'm in love with the girl with the flower tattoo
If I wrote the perfect song
You know I'd name it after you

"Dexter"
Trips in the ambulance are like rides at the county fair
Needles, shots and setting bones anyone can bear.
Hospitals smell real good, and HBO is free.
Dexter town is simple people just like you and me.
