Man is the house going to smell good today as Mrs. C is going to make some home made bread today. And later tonight, total heaven with hot home made bread and real butter.

What "kitchen smell" could smell any better? What do you like to smell cooking? Oh, maple cured bacon is great, the wonderful aroma lasts for a couple of days. :fluffle:

Does she use a bread machine? Or does she do it the real old-fashioned way, kneading it, letting it rise, punching it down, letting it rise again? Does she do plain loaves or does she braid it or just shape them into baguettes? Whole wheat or white? What's her recipe?

I love homemade bread. I used to make it all the time.

When I make sugar cookies, it smells better than your wife's bread. -_-

She tried a bread machine and threw it out a long time ago. She usually makes white bread and makes them into loaves. She loves punching it down and letting it rise again before punching it down again, especially if she has been watching CSPAN or is mad at me. :p

Homemade bread can't beat homemade brownies.

You wouldn't recognize real good brownies if they came and bit you! There's no way unsweet food beats sweet food in anything. Not that I'm totally biased towards sugar due to worshipping the sugar god. That's another issue altogether.

I would say the smell of Meth cooking is unforgettable. To some it may smell better than fresh baked bread. :p

Brownies are nice, but they're extras, not serious food. Bread is basic. If I'm hungry and the choice is between hot, fresh from the oven, homemade bread-and-butter and brownies, I'll take bread. It appeals to something primal that the best chocolate and sugar can't reach.

Myself, I know what I should choose, but I go for the goodies too often...man, that could be a blow to my health in years to come.

The dough is rising and it smells good. I can't wait for it to start baking but I must wait for the first rise to finish then the second rise. After it bakes the ultimate, hot bread and butter. She's making four loaves of wheat bread. Two for us and one each for two lucky neighbors.
