That's right, the population yesterday morning increased by one more when my newest daughter was born. She's very healthy, mom is doing great.
BWAHAHAHAHA That's one more conservative Mormon (unless and until she decides otherwise ;) ) in the world.
So I was cuirous about whether many other posters here have kids. No details, as we all know about net safety and such. Just generally, do you have any or plan to?
No, but I plan to.

I don't plan to have children, maybe adopt, but probably not.
Congrats NeoB!

Actually this is my 4th.
I'm kinda curious because I have a pet theory that people's perspectives and opinions tend to be deeply affected by having children. I'm wondering if anyone else agrees.

I have two. Yes your whole perspective does chance!

I have two children (20 and 3 months) and I think that it's not me who changed when my first child was born - it was the world. It now has a very important part that did not exist previously.
Congratulations and I wish you that you all be happy. :)

You are quite correct.
But I'll have the last laugh. The correct syntaxt would be:

For Java, JavaScript, J#, C, C++ and C#.

Nope, you can pretty much assume World to be an object, so:
++World.Population;
BTW: World.Population++; would do exactly the same (as a single statement, that is...).

Nope, you can pretty much assume World to be an object, so:
++World.Population;
Ideally, Population should be then private. ++World.Population would violate encapsulation.

Well you see, my children will be my generals for precisely that effort. I now have 2 sons and 2 daughters. 3 more and I'll have enough for one General to command the armies on each continent.
You will all kneel before Zod.

"Eat your broccoli, or you'll get the Antarctica!" ;)
I took my time – I was essentially single until after my 35th birthday everything changed. :D I'm 38 now.
My first 3 were from my first marriage. My oldest was born when I was 18 and the 3rd when I was 25. At that point I kinda figured I was done and that I'd be young enough to chase all my grandchildren around the yard and stand a decent chance of catching them, and so on.
But I miss them. They went with mom in the divorce (I didn't fight her. My parents divorced and used me as a pawn and ai ABSOLUTELY refused to put my kids through that.) and so I am not getting to have them grow up around me (I see them every other weekend as they live in another state, but it's not enough.)
So now that I'm 33 I'm starting with a new one and I'm pretty sure she won't be my last. *sigh* and I thought I'd never attend a high school graduation with grey hair...
(the important thing to note is that I still HAVE all my hair :D)

Ouch... That's exactly what I'll be when this one is 7...
My consolation is that I'm the same age now as my mom was when I was born, and she never seemed like an old mom to me.

Must declare a variable type
Undeclared instance "WorldPopulation"
Correct Syntax:
Class World {
private int Population;
public static void Main() {
World.Population++;
}
}
//in C# and Java
That would also throw a compiler error if the class were non-executable and just a library object, as is how I had it in mind. Since you set Population as private. You'd need setters and getters for encapsulation.
Class World{
private int population;
public int Population
{
set
{
population = value;
}
get
{
return population;
}
}
}
in which case you could do
World.Population = World.Population +1;
//C#
or if you're a glutton for punishment and like Java/J##,
Class World{
private int population;
public int getPopulation()
{
return population;
}
public void increasePopulation()
{
population++;
public void increasePopulation(int newbabies)
{
population = population + newbabies;
}
}
}
in which case you could do
World.increasePopulation(1);
or
World.increasePopulation();
//Java

I'll let you know this summer. I have one on the way.
I'm a bit worried about that. I'm generally disinterested in the lives of other people, or even in their welfare. I wonder if I'll care more about my own children.
I hope I do, but I don't really know why I would. My child isn't just someone I don't know, but it's someone non-verbal I don't know. Won't that just be annoying?
I'll find out soon enough.

When I had my kids, my perceptions did, indeed change. And they continued to change at every stage of their growth.
My final perception (to date) is that, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. As much as I love my kids, and as successful as they've been (daughter, Public Health Officer in the Air Force: son, engineer at an aero-space firm), the personal cost has been prohibitive - I have no money, my health is shot, my retirement has been blown and I still have no grandchildren. But I do have two people who think that I am incompetent to make my own decisions and need a keeper.
