question for any Russian (speaking) posters....
Can the phrase, "ЖИВИ ТАК ЧТОБЫ ВЫЖИТЬ СМЕРТЬ" be changed to make any sense semantically? A friend of a friend tried to translate the English phrase, "Live your life such that you survive your death," into Russian for me but, after doing so, said it doesn't really make sense, semantically, in Russian. I thought I'd check on here before giving up on using the phrase translated into Russian.
The Russian guy beside me says it makes no sense, and you need more vodka.[/stereotype]

what you need to do is replace a few words as Russian has numerous meaning for things like live and such (especially the death part as Russian prefers to list causes more):
Живой как то, что вы собирались имеют смерть анальным сексом
this is what I think your looking for though my Russian is a little rusty

like your friend of a friend actually needs an exact translation nor do you need a form of slavery

I actually do need something of an accurate translation and you've also no idea why or for what I need this translation for so, while I agree that I don't need a form of slavery, I do not think your final analysis of my request is as accurate as you seem to believe.

Guah?
Replace ВЫЖИТЬ with прожить and it will be a nice literal translation. Not a native speaker so I'm not sure how heavily the dual sense of прожить weights on the semantic viability of the phrase (survive means not only "not die during something" but also "experience something").
edit: after reading your post again more carefully I see I didn't help you much, sorry
