In the past two day I have probably gotten close to 20 automated phone calls from this horrible person. Maybe she isn't horrible, maybe she is, but in any case, I hope she loses. Almost 20 calls in the last two days? What the fuck?

Does anyone here have any experiences with annoying phone calls, political or otherwise?

Have any of my fellow Pennsylvanians gotten any calls from lil' miss Jenny yet?

I do. I few years ago, some girl kept on calling my cellphone insulting me. She believed I was going out with her boyfriend. Needless to say, I even thought about calling my mobile provider and asked if this number could be blocked. The asshole that took my call ´assured´ me it couldn´t be done. That I needed to file a complaint with the police and crap.

To make a long story short, I ended up ignoring the phone whenever I saw it was from this girl. Eventually, she stopped calling. I do wonder if she realized I wasn´t the one going out with her boyfriend.:)

I am a displaced Pennsylvanian living abroad and luckily have not been subjected to this ridiculous campaign scheme.

Call her office and tell them to take your number off of their call list.

Now that's a real Mann.
i find if i'm getting bombarded with phone calls i put on some heavy metal music at top volume to the phone, usually to things i don't like. if they are still on the line after 5 mintues then i'll disconnect the call. If they try again i repeat the process. If anything i enjoy frustrating them. It's a win win, music and a getback.
I suppose if you wanted to be cruel you could play some nursery rhymes over and over.

I kept getting calls and texts from people looking for Nicole for about six months after I got my phone. The best was when someone started arguing with me.

Typically I would tell them, in a calm, courteous manner, that they have the wrong number or I am not interested and/or to please remove me from their list and not call me again.

What, you were expecting something else? Like taking a megaphone and putting it next to a boom-box whist it is playing the Numa Numa song? That requires WORK and these pricks ain't worth my time.

For a year and a half now, I've gotten calls for a Dr. Athey (he is, evidently, a child psychiatrist in the area). This happens at least 2-3 times a week. I've called Dr. Athey at an alternate number (he has several) and asked them to take my number off their website. Apparently, they have no control over it as I'm still getting calls.

Some kid got ahold of my number thinking it was some celebrity's number and texted me until I finally convinced them I wasn't. And it happened in front of other NSers...

Only one group has ever called me repeatedly - a local charity for the blind. When I pick up the phone, I used to tell them that I couldn't hear them, then hang up, hoping that they would believe that my connection was bad. Now I give them the family line: We don't give money over the phone. They're a charity, they don't deserve to be insulted.

I have thought of games I could play with telemarketers. One involves me switching languages on them, claiming not to speak English.

If I got an actual person calling from a campaign, I would inform them that I don't have money to spare for a campaign donation, and that I have not examined their candidate's platform sufficiently to decide whether I will vote for them. Unless it is coming from John McCain's campaign, at which point I will gladly tell them that I am a McCain supporter.

no idea how to deal with an automated message.

Live person? Use the "fake suicide" technique. Messes 'em up every time ;)

Speaking as someone who, for a living, talks to folk and asks them to take surveys, I'd like to point out that the individuals you talk to have little control over the numbers they dial. It is not the individual's (the one whose ears you're blasting with a boombox) fault that you've been called before or are being called again - there are rules we have to follow about removing people from our list, and usually we can only do it if they say "Take me off your call list." It's terribly annoying to be repeatedly called, but although the individual on the other side is the only one generally available to vent your wrath on, they're really an unfair target. It's not a Borg collective you're talking to.

So please be polite to the people calling you. Generally speaking, it's much more effective to nicely ask them to remove your number from their call list than to blast their ear-drums with heavy metal or fake suicide on them.

Call her office and tell them to take your number off of their call list.

...and that the repeated calls have had the result of making sure you will NEVER vote for her.

I don't get her because I don't live in PA. But I am running against her. Ok, I'm not but I am running another election on another site and I'm freakin out. Elections are tough and I'm wired on mountain dew right now trying to get everything in order, Tommorrow I have to submit my platform and write a bunch of speeches. You should give her a break, she's just trying to win hard.

I hate it when people call and then hang up immediately. That happens to me a lot, and I don't have caller ID so I don't know what's going on.

We get those horrible automated 'personal' messages 'from the candidates'. Usually for California elections, for whatever reason. Not sure why, considering we live in Arizona.
I usually hang up the moment those things start up.

Call her office and tell them to take your number off of their call list.
furthermore, that every time she calls you'll spend your time convincing 10 other people to vote for her opponent.
