Ok, so today I got an e-mail from Men Health's (Men's Health (MensHealth@tmr3.com) however I never subscribed to them. I never got any of their magazine under my name (my dad reads them but his is under his name). Anyways, today I got two e-mails from Men Health demanding that I pay $25 for the 10 issues that they said they "Sent" me. I don't know if this is real, or if this is a phishing scam. They linked to a website, and you can see it here. (https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/RP/HLH/mh_outbound_form2.jsp?cds_page_id=36511&cds_mag_code=HLH&id=1207987418517&lsid=81030258148034290&vid=4&cds_fn=18175HLH18687H)

What do you guys think? Legit or Phishing? Its phishing you r-tard. First, Men's Health is going to try to contact you via telephone or snail mail first. Email lends itself to too much phishing opportunity and companies want to avoid that. Second, they are not going to try and collect money from you for 10 messily magazines. The amount owed won't even cover the cost of the time of employees used in extracting the funds from you. They would silently cancel your subscription and then bring up the 10 unpaid issues when you demand you reactivate you subscription.

Was that really called for, really?

I'm not, it's just seem kinda pointless. I only call people idiots, worthless, or "r-tards" when they actually do something stupid, like actually paying the $25 that the phisher wants. :p

The worst that can happen is that they'll stop sending you magazines that you don't want and didn't order. There's no need to pay even the slightest bit of notice to this whether it's legit or not.

Well my main concern was my credit score, I need a good one to get a house nowanddays or to buy anything on credit.

Wait. Not updating a subscription to a magazine you never really subscribed to would hurt your credit? Really?
Besides, magazines usually come wrapped in a "Please renew now!" notice when they're mailed to you. Never an e-mail notice.

it's phishing but the very worst thing would be it would end up as deficient, and when you get your credit report for a mortgage you can call the collections agency and pay them $25. (or probably less! since they will have bought the debt for about $2)
I would ignore it. They would have sent you umpteen threatening letters if you actually owed them anything.

you knew it was phishing before you posted this eh?
if you are worried about your credit rating, keep an eye on your credit report.
i heard a good suggestion on the radio the other day. you are allowed one free copy of your credit report each year from each credit reporting company. the caller said that what she did was to ask for a credit report every 4 months from a different company so she was always current and she never had to pay for it. its a good suggestion for a poor college student with good prospects for the future.

The intruiging part is that both the email and the website seem to be legit.
Nevertheless - better to just call them than to enter your credit card details on a website. If only to tell them you do not have a subscription. And if it is phishing, the good people of the real Mens Health would no doubt like to know of its existence.

They aren't asking you to pay for magazines you already got...that isn't how subscriptions work. They would, if this were legit, have already gotten paid for the magazines delivered. Magazine subscriptions are handled in a "pay now, recieve later" system...not a credit one (get magazine now, pay later).
Also, the website it brings you to claims to be part of the Hearst corp., but Men's Health is published by Rodale Press

Phishing, crisis averted.
Now lets talk about something interesting...like how it's possible to have armoured bears in the military.
