So last night I brought my nephew a birthday present (he'll be turning 1 on April the 25th) and I brought him Mega-Blocks. They're like legos but the pieces are big enough that he won't choke on them. Anyways, last night I made sure that they were safe...by....building a fort out of them and then smashing it back to their individual pieces. So for those of us who have nephews, nieces, grandchildren, or children, how many of you test toys before you give it to the little tykes?

I just make sure they are labeled made in China. For the highest assurances of quality of course.

Did this actually happen once? I hear lots of things about poorly made things in China, and one of them is that they made them from lead. Still not sure if it's true.

We also think poorly of China-made products. Not that our products are that good too. :p

They aren't made from lead. They are coated in paint with lead in it to bring out the colors. It's a common practice, but in the case of many china made toys, the amount of lead is higher than what standards in North America would deem 'safe'.
