Judging people by their face.

I just read this article, (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24036082/) about how more attractive people are more promiscuous. Apparently it's a self fulfilling prophecy. And then I remembered a maddox (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=spot_the_pedo) article about the pedo-smile.

Can you really judge people by their face? Not voluntary things like glasses, but their natural appearance? Speaking of glasses, why do so many nerds have them? I used to think their vision was damaged from reading too much, but that doesn't make sense. Do people just expect someone with glasses to be smarter, so they try to live up to that expectation? I noticed that short people often overcompensate by being loud and annoying, or by becoming ambitious. Also try not to turn this thread into something about race, there have been plenty of other threads like that on this forum.

How does this not make sense?

You can judge people by anything.

Speaking of glasses, why do so many nerds have them?

To prevent bullies from poking their eyes out.

I noticed that short people often overcompensate by being loud and annoying, or by becoming ambitious.

WHY YOU PUNK, I OUGHT TO RIP OUT YOUR LIVER AND CUT OFF YOUR KNEES! I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!

When I voted for the male picture, I got it wrong, but when I looked at the picture of the woman and then read the little description under it, I was correct in my assumptions. I'm not sure what that means.

I dunno, I don't exactly think this works.
What about the people who would be happy with either a lasting relationship or casual activity?
Doesn't sounds like the study was conducted all too extensively.

Well i think alot of nerds end up fucking their eyes over with a combo of books, Comps with the light off, things like that...

Besides, what about people with Great faces, and shitty bodies ;)

Actually I remember somewhere that near sightedness is somehow genetically correlating with higher tendency for intelligence.
But the books thing is an explanation, too.
Though I know a lot of non-nerds who have bad eyes and simply do not wear glasses cause they prefer to look non-nerdy.

Beauty has a slight positive correlation with intelligence. Facial symmetry is associated with non-flawed brain development, due to the common neural crest origin of the face bones and the brain.

Yes, you could say that sometimes, facial expressions can tell you how a person is. But I don´t think expressions are ground enough to judge someone. As for the ¨they wanna f*ck me because I´m gorgeous¨ argument. Meh, not too sure about that one. I´ve seen gorgeous girls and men who aren´t getting any actions whereas simple looking girls or men are. I guess you could say it all depends on the people.

... I for one cannot believe that.

I try not to judge people by their faces. I see a face and I think, 'That'd be a great place to put a pie."

I'm short and nerdy and am loud and wear glasses. People think I'm much younger than I actually am.......they underestimate me by maybe 10 years.

I hope nobody is judging me by my face this week......I got a sunburn Saturday and it's pretty weird lookin'

o.o Or maybe among people with vision problems, the smarter ones tend to wear their glasses while the dumber ones refuse to? I've heard a few people talk to me about how they're supposed to be wearing glasses but don't...

To me it seems pretty obvious.

Let's assume over a large enough sample size, everyone wants to have sex about the same. This is a fair assumption using standard probability rules and guidelines.

Pretty people will be turned down less than ugly people. Therefore pretty people have more sex. Therefore pretty people, in a statistically large sample size, will be more promiscuous.
