what do you do for a bad day? eating sounds like a bad idea, drinking sounds better, but probably irresponsible......watching a sad movie and crying my eyes out sounds fun, except it irks my husband (who doesn't deal well with the idea of crying because I want to)
what do you do for non-clinical depression? feed it? have a pity party? drink? eat? ignore it?
*this is not my blog, srsly. answer the freaking question.

I punch walls. Except today, that didn't really help. I'm really trying not to go have a cigarette, but I might just say "fuck it" and go have one.
Yelling at random strangers, including a police officer, worked a little.
I eat my emotions and forget my problems with games or forums.

it's raining here, maybe I should take the girls out to play in the rain......
If I'm sick I'll just sleep. 18-20 hours a day. For a bad day, go home and kill things in video games. Blowing shit up, shooting people, knifing them in the back. Fun stress relieving times.

Thats always good...I would probably leave the kids and just go for a drive or something. Go sit by a lake. Oh, or get a coffee. hmm..maybe I'll do that...

I find drinking/eating or whatever is just giving in to whatever it is that's making you feel down. A little excerise can do wonders though.

Moderate to heavy physical activity works for me when I need to bleed off excess stress in the "upset" or "really pissed off" vein. I once had a girlfriend who didn't understand that I needed to go pedal my road bike for 10-20 miles in order to have a polite conversation about what was angering me. She followed me in her car and told me to talk about it. I asked her to please let me bleed off my anger and go home, but she didn't. She eventually honked at me and I screeched to a stop, so did she. I walked up to the front of her car and dented her hood with my fist (it popped out, no permanent damage) and yelled "THIS IS WHY I NEED TO RIDE! TO GET RID OF THIS!! NOW PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE AND WE WILL TALK LATER!!!"
After that, we never yelled at one another again. In fact, she adopted my method of exercising off anger before a necessarily intense discussion. Then she got into grad school across the continent, and that was that. Meh.

If I'm legit pissed or stressed, usually yeah. But there are just some days that are bad for no reason besides being bad, and, for some reason, physical exercise does nothing then.

Yeah physical activity is a great way to vent steam. It is also a good way to clear the head when feeling depressed.

That is good for both anger and sadness too. Shooting stuff feels specially good when angry. Sadness + moody music + FPS = the ultimate cold calm focus on accuracy.

Non-clinical, clinical, whatever the cause. I destroy things. Not real things, mind - but I always make sure I've got a blog or two set up so that when I'm down or just frakked off about something I can just log in and delete the whole damn lot. Watch hours' worth of typing vanish like it never existed (yes, I know it's probably still in some archive somewhere at sodding Google, but that's not the point).
Same with websites; or MMORG characters; art or writing - anything that I've put work or time into; it all gets flushed.
Failing that, I load up my car with a few important things and leave. Just drive away, leave everything else behind. I live on my own so it's not as though it causes anyone any worry - and usually after an hour or two it's eased up enough for me to come back. I suppose it's just a way of saying, "I could do this if I really wanted to".

I prefer sniper servers in UT2k4. I just picture the offending person's head on the target and *piff!* HEADSHOT. Ahh, fictional revenge.

Isn't it the other way around? Feed a cold, starve a fever? All my life, that's what I've thought. :p
Anyway. I generally buy myself a good book, or go for a looong walk, regardless of weather... in fact, the rainier the better. Or, my own personal quirk... I hop on the longer bus route near my house, and ride it to the last destination and back. In my case, that's a two hour bus ride in total, and man, nothing works off a bad mood like listening to some melancholy music and staring out the window. I usually do this at night, when the bus is almost empty.
Go for a drive playing designated "I hate everyone" music, often the Deftones' White Pony. Or bake chocolate chip cookies.

One of my housemates had massively bad news at one point, a death in the family. Over the day a really depressive air set over my house which wasn't nice, as people can imagine. In the end, I ended up getting rather "merry" to kind of escape from that, as bad as I know as that was.

Well if there was a good method of dealing with a bad day i think everyone would be saying the same thing.
I tend to lose myself in books or games when i'm angry, but this only really delays what i have to deal with, still even delaying things can be helpful for me.
Eventually i'l face up to what i have to do to make things better, but i usually need to think before resolving them.
I find fruit is a very useful thing for dealing with anger, back home i used to chop wood with an axe, this did the trick nicely, i could picture my worst enemies then, crush them!:)
So i supose exercise is the best thing for it.

Ummm... Okay, so you're sad...and you want to know how to feel better? Is that the question?
Don't binge. Don't binge drink (a glass of wine or so would be nice, though). Don't watch a sad movie - it will just make you sadder.
Have a bath. Go for a walk. Listen to your favourite CD. Go out for lunch with your husband. Do things that energise you - don't lounge around, because the feeling will just sit in your chest.
However, if you're actually depressed these will help a bit, but it's probably not going to go away that easily.

On topic: music is the other big thing. Often, the key to solving my moods is to indulge in some gorgeous-but-sad piano (or guitar)-based music. Amy Seeley is beautiful, as is Brooke Fraser. Ani DiFranco is a tad more angry than sad, sometimes, but she has some gorgeous songs.

I don't as a general rule get 'depressed.'
If I'm aggravated and/or annoyed because the people around me are rather aggressively being retards, I generally treat that with single-malt, cigars, and solitude.
Violent physical exercise is good too.
