Supporting Two Pathetic Causes

It is no secret to most that I'm a Sox fan. At a White Sox board I frequent, there is one iconic picture posted frequently of a woman crying during Game 3 of the NLCS on October 14, 2003.

The same woman (or a look alike) was recently spotted at a Clinton campaign rally. She is crying in that picture too. I don't know for sure if it is the same woman. I'll let you judge that. If it is, we have a person who is supporting two pathetic and hopeless causes (Chicago Cubs and Hillary Clinton).

It does look like the same woman doesn't it?

Wouldn't gloating about a sports team and political campaign being "teh suck" be considered trolling?

A simple statistic analysis with Michigan and Florida not counting would show that Hillary Clinton's campaign is a hopeless cause. She needs to win about 2/3 of the outstanding pledged delegates to even have a chance. While it is theoretically possible, it is an extreme statistical improbability. This is by no means trolling. This is just a hilarious thread about a person who seems to be attracted to hopeless causes.

They at the very least look very, very similar...

This part had me confused. You're a White Sox fan and you're talking about the NLCS. Then it all came clear:

You're a troll.

How so? The only way this thread could incite flames would be if the woman in this picture is a poster here. I highly doubt that is the case so grow up.

Because rubbernecking at a trainwreck is human nature, not trolling. You also need to grow up and actually try to have fun once in a while.

I didn't say flamebaiting, I said trolling. You haven't asked a question, you haven't suggested anything for debate. You started a thread about a woman crying at two separate events and called both events pathetic. That's all. That's trolling.

That is not trolling. Go shut up and make a thread in moderation if you are going to whine. Just don't do it in my thread.

I'm sorry that you think mocking people crying and then making a lame political jab is enjoyable. It may be for you, and if so, good for you. I still have the ability and right to call it what it is, whether you agree or not. I'm not reporting it, I'm just pointing it out. You need to relax.

I'm pretty sure I can post whatever I like in your thread. Why? Because you've not given the thread any direction. I've chosen to post about how the thread is effectively content-free trolling.

So, in case you didn't understand why I consider this trolling (though I certainly could be wrong): You're statement boils down to "Hurr, hurr, Cubs suck and Clinton sucks and she's sad about it. Haha!"

That feels like classic trolling to me. Moreso on the part about the Cubs.

Welcome to being a sports fan. Find me one fan who doesn't laugh at the expense of another team. I was jumping for joy when Polanco made that error yesterday in Boston to help send his team to 0-7.

'sides, I got along fine with a bunch of Englishmen when they got thrashed by France, despite me rooting for the French.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I tell you what: you provide some direction for your OP -- something we might debate about (apparently my direction of whether the post is content-free trolling doesn't suit you, and that's fine, I've failed at starting threads myself before), and I'll stick to the topic. Right now, aside from our pleasant conversation, there's no topic.

Are to discuss the similarity of the woman in both pictures and debate her features and propensity for wearing knit caps (or toques, to my Canadian friends)? Are we to compare the 2003 Cubs with Hillary's campaign, or baseball to politics in general? Which?

You can't hijack a plane with no engines. Well...that makes it a glider, but they don't get up in the air without help, so, yeah.

If you think someone's trolling, just report it. Don't bait them.

If someone says you're trolling...well, don't be so vehement in your denials. It not only makes you look guilty, but if you get too hot you might actually end up breaking a different rule and actually being guilty.
