Sorry if I made anyone depressed with my last thread, I now offer this one to cheer people back up. What was the best time of your life? For me it was without question, University. I wish it could have lasted forever.

When I found these Forums. No joke, this place has opened my eyes, several times over.

Yes, I know I'm insane:p

Hmmm....there are many bests for me. I will say the best best is when each of my kids were born. It is an amazing thing. :)

Hey your thread was good even if it was sad. Empathy exercises are a good thing. I just had to pop over to the Joke Vault for an upper occassionally. :p

I have a few. Listed from least to most significant.

- In 8th grade, our class trip to Washington DC. We just messed around all week, having fun, living in our early teen bliss.

- At age 15, seeing Strike Anywhere live. It was just a crazy ass show, everyone was fucking insane. My friend got the shit kicked out of him in the pits but was okay and able to laugh about it. Just the insane energy of that show. I'd been to quite a lot of shows, but that was definitely the most intense one.

- The last year I was in high school, all of the bus rides to and from school. It was during all of that time I had bonded with one of my closest friends, and we slowly fell in love. There was not a single day where being with her could not make me instantly happy. That was definitely the best time of my life.

Once I had this really good glass of chocolate milk, but eventually the cup was emptied, and so ended my best moment...

I guess it was when I first started to make decent money a couple of years ago. I moved into this wonderful flat in London, had an unspeakably glamorous American girlfriend and just generally felt on top of the world. I wasn't working as hard as I am now, which helped a lot.

any time that I have traveled with friends, has been great. Road trips, flying to visit old friends, field trips back in the day, something about traveling, seeing new places, and being with people I already like is awesome.

Eleventh Grade, between Katrina and when we went back to school...Even though the Hurricane devastated our homes and whatnot, it created an employment vacuum and allowed us the time out of school to get enough money together and get our band together...

It may sound a little selfish, but its honest, that really was the best time of my life, i miss playing with those guys...

There was a period of 6-7 years where I did a lot of traveling in my 20's. I kind of miss picking up and going somewhere without any worries.

Pssst... Look in the fridge. There may be more good times with a simple pour from the carton.

I'm pretty care-free right now, actually. Very few responsibilites, no dependents, decent enough job - not bad. Not "fun" either, but a nice easy routine. :)

Enjoy it while you have it. Once you get married and have kids it is amazing how little free time one has.

I can count seven divorces so far between my parents, and two from my younger step-brother so far, who is only 22 years old - you don't witness that and make the same choices. You just don't. :p But I do plan to enjoy my free time while it lasts, before I might possibly be taking on more responsibility at work. :)

best time of my life was probably those times during the 70s and 80s when i was living and working by myself. somewhat menial jobs perhapse, most of them, but i was actually able, from time to time, to live almost entirely on them. not only to live on them but to save up enough to make year long extended vacations out of it whenever i would quit or get fired. and then when those resources ran out, to go back to college and take a few more classes for another semester or two and have v.a. to pay my rent and tramp stamps to eat regular and various grants and or fee wavers to sign up for classes.

but really the best part of all of that was NOT having to live WITH anyone else.

oh sure, there were times when i kind of wished i did have someone to snuggle cuddle with, but not having their demands for attention and mundane emotional attatchments to contended with was a very real blessing.

the best of those best times was probably the summer i spent as a driller's helper out in the middle of the nevada semi-desert.

i've never been really happy living in densely populated areas. one of the reasons i'm not entirely pleased with how i'm having to live now.

each part of my life has had some compensations though. such as now, having this computer and internet access and also the applications i have running on it with which i can attempt to illustrate the kind of world i would prefer to be living in.

i've always wanted other people, all other people, to be able to be happy too, but the thing is about that, about all that being social stuff, is that my own greatest happiness has never come from being with anyone but to the contrary, from what not being with others doesn't deprive me of, which is namely of course, the real gratifications of creating and exploring.

My school trip to Ottawa last year, a full week of pure lolz.

And the summer when my cousin from New York got married, best summer ever.

The first one that comes to mind was in the pit in a club in San Francisco where my favorite band was playing. The girl I'd just started dating kissed me and outside it began to rain for the first time in 7 months.

University (except the exams) I guess. Which is right now. Maybe I should try to enjoy/exploit it even more because I've only got about 5 years ahead of me

Being a small child probably was pretty cool too.

ND Governor's School in summer 2004. Six weeks of independence ... ah, the bliss. Yeah, I was busy, and yeah, my schedule was hectic, but there were two full evenings every week and a few hours on the other days where I could go wherever I wanted and do whatever I wanted in a 3X3 block radius. It sounds small, and it sounds strict, but it was the freest I've ever been.

... And then I had to go home! :(

When I was a small child before I went to school. I would go to my aunt's house, who would babysit me while my parents worked. I'd hang out with my cousins all day.

I don't mean to scare anyone from marriage and kids. They are a great thing if done right. As for the job it can never replace a family.

Probably the first time I ever played mud football. It was just total hilarious chaos. We were destroyed, our clothes were destroyed and the field was destroyed.

Meh, when I was in my late teen/early twenties. Although becoming a crotchety old man has it's appeal.
