Why are we still there?

Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on TV there are photos of death and destruction.

Why are we still there?

We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, but it causes us nothing but trouble.

Why are we still there?

Many of our children go there and never come back.

Why are we still there?

Their government is unstable, and they have sloppy leadership.

Why are we still there?

Many of their people are uncivilized.

Why are we still there?

The place is subject to natural disasters, from which we are supposed to bail them out.

Why are we still there?

There are many hostile religious sects, which we do not understand.

Why are we still there?

Their folkways, foods, and fads are unfathomable to ordinary Americans.

Why are we still there?

We can't even secure the borders.

Why are we still there?

They are billions of dollars in debt and it will cost billions more to rebuild, which we can't afford.

Why are we still there?

It is becoming VERY clear . . . WE MUST PULL OUT OF CALIFORNIA ! ! !

ok I am bored, but but I did find the parrellels to Iraq entertaining.

Sorry, I'm not prepared to sacrifice my fresh fruit. We must remain in California, no matter how many casualties are taken.

Hang on, what?

I agree. We must pull out of California, or we'll have to suffer through a dragonballZ live-action film. NOTHING. I repeat, NOTHING is worth that abomination being created.

I assure you that California and the movie industry it hosts will continue functioning without the help of the United States.

Works for me that ends those gazillion electoral votes they get and no more actor endorsements. :p

You, sir, have offended me!

Anyway, you don't have to worry because we Californians already have a secret plan involving bombs dropped along the border to break us away from the mainland. Don't tell LA we're not taking them with us, just say we went on vacation or something.

In all sriousness, I think in many was California would do better on it's own. It's got strong agriculture, reasonable infrastrcture, good hi tech industries and a bigger global presence than any other US state. The US drags them down. The only blot on the landscape is their choice of governor.

Well, californians are snobs, but if we start dividing up the union we leave our selves open to foreign invasion. What makes it even worse is you KNOW those bleeding heart liberals would give our nukes away.

California is one of the only states in the US worth a damn. All though if they did leave the Union Id go move there.

Alaska can NOT come. No thanks, we'll keep our sunshine and they can "chill' in their 100-day nights.

Yeah, no, because of one thing: energy.

California relies almost wholly upon the rest of the United States for its energy needs, and if it broke away, it would find it that much harder to get the energy.

Really, there's no reason for California to break away. It enjoys far too many benefits and would enjoy few--if any--benefits from independence. This is true of just about any state in the United States to be honest.

So we can wean ourselves off of Washington's teat.

Seriously, could your state even support itself? As an aside I think us (states) need to wean Washington off OUR teat.

Take California's votes away and the Republicans would have:

UNLIMITED POWER!

Actually, this reminds me of Shwarzenegger's statements about the "Nation-State of California," and the state suing the Feds over environmental issues. If the US goes far enough down hill due to war, recession, and Mcain being President, could we see a California seperatist movement like the one currently in Quebec?

Yes, we could. We are in the top 5 for most ag production. We can get our power from the many power stations on stand by, and the 2 Nuclear Power Plants. We have one of the largest freshwater harbors in the US, with access to the St. Laurence Seaway. We have the 2nd best healthcare systems(or 2nd healthiest citizens I forget which) in the US. Do not under estimate Minnestoa.

Most states have valuable things, your's isnt special in anyway. Now i'm not saying the state sucks, but there are 49 others that are just as good.

I've given Washington and Oregon a lot of consideration, and I think we have a friendly enough rapport and common interests that we could hammer something out. Trade beer for baseball teams?
