I'd highly recommend it to everyone. Excellent film on the bias inherent in the MPAA rating system. It's secrecy, total monopoly of the American film industry.

Oh and it shows what an absolute fuckwit Jack Valenti is. What a tool

Then I won't feel safe watching it. Sorry, but I'll have to pass on this one.

Is the film rated? Or has the MPAA actually not yet rated it?

Search back a bit, and you'll find a thread I started on this film about a month ago or so. I was told then (by CToaN, I think) that the MPAA had implemented some of the reforms that Kirby Dick had exposed in his film. For example, members of the ratings board whose kids reach age 18 are required to relinquish their positions (as opposed to the way it was for Dick's film, where three of the eight parents had "kids" over 18, and one was divorced without custody.

However, I believe that the heinous "tiebreaker" practice is still in use. Eight members, including the head of the board, vote on a rating. In case of a tie, the head of the board votes again, thus making it a decision made by one person.

Man, could everyone in NSG just go out and watch this movie at once instead of every three or four months so I don't have to keep making the same posts about it (what is this, the third, fourth thread about it? I'm losing track)...I can't, I just can't keep doing it. The same guy isn't even in charge of the MPAA, it's a good movie but things have changed, not in small part due to that movie.

DAMNED NETFLIX!

I mean, yeah, that's basically what I was trying to say. I knew it was you what set me straight about six weeks ago.
